Me and the bro have been motovlogging for a couple of months in London.

We were both using the audiotechnica 3350 until his developed a dodgy cable problem.

In a rush we shot down to maplins to grab a cheap mic thinking it would be completely useless but worth a try given the short notice.

WOW were we amazed. The audio is as good as if not better than the £25 condenser mic and it was £6!

On top of that it doesn't require batteries. I simply bodge tapped a bit of tissue folded over a few times over the pick up hole to dampen wind noise.

Search Maplins site for "Multimedia Boundary Microphone" (Forum wont let me link) The reviews would lead you to believe its poor but its definitely not.

We're heading to GOA India in January to motovlog for 2 months and I'll definitely be picking up a couple as spares before we go.

Check Youtube /itsthosebros to hear the sound quality. Uploading a new vid as I'm typing.

I bought a Mic that was $0.25 on Amazon and hard wired it into my camera (no mic Jack) and it has surprised me several times. I usually do a little eq work in post, but it sounds pretty good for such a cheap thing.

Small update, back from India, didn't need the spare in the end but better safe than sorry! Mic quality held up!
It's still dependant on your helmet and how you mount it ofc! My audio came out better than the bro's using the same mic as my helmet comes with more chin felt to make it more air tight

I got my mic from maplins for £4 in the sale bin :P and its great. its made for laptops but its now hardwired in my lid and does the job well.

You don't need a powered mic if you are using an action camera as they have all the boosting and auto leveling tech built in.

Dirt cheap mics work very well with these devices.

funny how it works, My mic cost $3 for 3 and it has been great once I worked out the best setup for it!
