Thinking of ditching the GoPro

I don't know what the hell is up with this thing.

It sporadically fails to save certain files and crashes, losing the data it's recorded. I've tried different memory cards in it (I always use branded class 10's where I can) but it's done it consistently.

I've tried different recording formats, from 4k down to 720 - but now and then it still happens. I've just installed a firmware update, hoping that will fix the issue - but I'm gutted with the last failure, lost 45mins worth and a couple of decent vlogs on a road trip that I'm unlikely to be able to repeat until after the winter.

Damn you GoPro!!! I'm thinking of ditching it for a Drift.

Anyone experienced a similar problem with it?

I normally don't have any problems with my drift but sometimes it hangs up when I turn it off. To avoid further problems I copy the material from the card to the PC and format it on the camera. I do that every time the camera acts weird. Which is 2 or 3 times a year :P

I have a GoPro Hero3 Black, and so far I havn't had any problems with it. The first thing I did when I got it was to install the latest software, but I had to do that manually because I couldn't get the auto thing to work.

What memory card do you have? All class 10 aren't the same, some are slower and some are faster. The most important thing is the read speed. My card has 30mbps and it seems to work good, at least at 1080p60fps. I havn't tried it with 2.7k or 4k so I don't know about that. Getting the update and check your card should work.

I lost quite a bit of footage because the GoPro decided to switch into high speed image capture, all by itself. That's the only issue I've had thus far, though, and I'm thoroughly pleased with the image quality (I record in 1080/30f, which gives a more cinematic feel IMO than higher frame rates and keeps the file sizes down considering I can't upload 2.7 or 4k to YouTube)

i agree with you man, im thinking about ditching my gopro for a drift hd ghost, iv seen alot better reviews on a drift, n so much more ppl rather use a drift the a gopro.

Give the CONTOUR +2 a try

It is the best camera I 've tried so far.

Have a look at it

Here you can see its quality:

I use both the Sony and the CONTOUR +2, and the best quality video image is form the CONTOUR +2.

Best regards

I use the sony action cam and love it. Vivid colors and good quality. But if you do the higher frame rates for slow motion it turns off the audio and plays back at 30fps so that's dumb
