Soo, little backstory.. Started on a ped, then YBR 125, ZZR600, currently on a VFR800 (2001)..

My VFR was in the garage on Friday for it's MOT and since I still needed to get to work, Dad lent me his Suzuki V-strom (2011) for the day and I also rode it today for abit before picking my VFR up this afternoon.

Anyway, was debating today with Dad about me buying a brand new bike.. And we've ruled it down too..

Suzuki V-Strom (2012)
Suzuki GSX1250FE (2012) (Aka, Bandit with Fairings)

I did wana look into a Hiyabusa, but I wouldnt get insured on that lol..

Anyway, just wanted to know peoples opinions on the two bikes, going to be going for a test ride next saturday for both hopefully to get my final decision, but just wanted your guys' thoughts too :)

Recently a local Suzuki dealership lent my dad a 2012 V-Strom 650 Adventure ABS to put 800ish miles on it for its first service. Long back story...

He let me ride it as well. Apparently the V-strom's 90 degree v-twin engine got a redo for 2012, and MMM MMM MMM!!!!!!!

It is a bit heavy, but for its height and width it is a pretty managable feeling weight distribution at low speeds and stops. At speed the weight melts away! The fuel injection gives the throttle response the strongest, most stable, and most friendly feel I've ever experienced on a V-twin! The transmission was VERY friendly and forgiving! Rolling on from a stop I'd be hitting 45mph in 2nd gear and only 3/4th of the way up the tachometer! Also, I could slow down and take a turn at 20mph in 4th gear and roll back on without the tranny giving me problems! Like i said, Forgiving! The brakes are VERY good! I had never rode a bike with ABS before that and after using it just to try once I was ruined, I loved it!!!

Power wise, I loved it!
Comfort wise, WOW, I could ride forever with that seat and ergos!
Style wise, I think the nose is the ugliest thing ever, but I could live with it!

Now, I have no personal experience with the with the GSX1250FE but I do know about them. Inline 4, 3/4 faired, Upright ergos with power, kind of a sport touring. I know 3 or 4 people that have them who love them.

They are both great bikes but the V strom is a cult bike. EVERYONE loves them! I'm sure you would too. It should also be cheaper on the insurance than the 1250. But it is your call!

Hope this helped!

Yeah I knew all that anyway :P but thanks for the input ;)

The insurance is good for the v-strom and the GSX isnt too much more, works out about £150 a month (Finance & insurance monthly) for the v-strom and about £170 a month forthe GSX.. So just depends on what I prefer after the test rides
