Im no mechanic and im no expert on motorcycles...

This is my first bike, a 2003 Honda Rebel 250cc with about 28k miles on it. Recently I noticed that there was this black oil like stuff coming out of one of the forks of my bike and im a little concerned...

Might it be that i put too much brake fluid? Or is there a special oil the forks should have?

Any help is welcome!

You've blown your fork seals... You need to get it repaired and not ride the bike. Oil coming out so close to your front brakes is dangerous.

To double check, clamp on the front brakes and bounce the forks, if you see oil, you must fix the seals

It should take no more than two hours to repair. Its a pain in the ass job and normally quicker for someone else to do

i didnt notice until one guy in the office said, so do you just pour the fork oil on everything?

in my defence, Its my first bike i dont know how its supposed to feel

It's easy done and something I didn't know until I failed an mot a few years ago.

I will never attempt to do it again

Just have a look at the forks for oil, you shouldnt see any
check around your engine , Just routine checking... you will notice things that are wrong

Cant say how often to replace. depends on roads and driving style etc

It's a concern I have as a new rider myself.

What should I check and replace, and how often etc.

Road bikes

Brakes, noises, rattles and leaks and tyres. Repair and maintain

Track bikes

Brakes and gaffa tape

You'll know when something is wrong
