The "What Did You Do Today" Thread....

Came home to a dead file server. Spent some time setting up a linux flash drive to boot the machine and find out what's the issue. Seems physically everything is ok, but the power outage we had killed something on the OS drive. Luckily storage drives decrypted and mounted just fine. So I will only need to set up the operating system and applications again. Lazy me, I had not created a backup image of the OS drive.

Good thing you have the skills to fix all that. Terrible that it happened.

Oh yes, I possess the skill of using search engines :D
I have general understanding of it all, since I did set the system up. But it's not like I know all the commands by heart, what to do in which order etc. Internet is a vast source, for info.

Okay, so yesterday, rather than today, after a month in the shop, I got the bike back... Still some work to do on it, and the bill was... a lot, but I still have a grin like a Cheshire Cat.

Did you pop a wheelie yet? :D

.....

Only ever done one wheelie on this machine, and that was not by design.... but no, I had a brand new rear tyre on.

What needed doing to it?

There is a bit of a list.....

Header pipe, link pipe, battery, rear brake pistons, seals and master cylinder, chain and sprockets, hub service, new rear tyre, ignition/fuel cap/glove box lock set, and cam cover seal. The biggest issue being the link pipe as it is obsolete and apparently quite rare.

I haven't done any bike stuff lately, but I ... bought a new editing rig. Went over budget, but I can edit smoother, faster, and the renders are WAY faster now, LOL.

BEAST MODE ACTIVATED! :D
Dude... I rendered a pretty basic vlog in Resolve the other night... saw 80-100% GPU usage, peak of 45C on the GPU, 30-40% CPU usage, 12GB of RAM... and it rendered at anywhere from 40 to 300 FPS. I saw a peak of 309fps render speed. That's just nuts.

I was doing some "light" Fusion work the other night, and looked at Task Manager... Resolve was using 49GB of RAM, all by itself! I had 63GB of RAM in-use at the time, LOL.

All the while, this thing is SILENT. No more screaming fans!
