General The Big Carburetor Vs Efi Debate

Good points. We went through similar transition back in the 90s and Harley Davidson. It took a while but now EFI is the only option for HD on new bikes. Luckily the aftermarket tuners improved to the point where at least manufacturer makes their device to interact with the smartphone. This allows the rider to change the map and even autotune the map as they ride.

Our transition is just starting now. I mean EFI has been here since god forever, but they were usually only reserved for the higher end larger motorcycles that hardly anyone rode.

Up till now, the vast majority of people rode on bikes under 200cc made in India, China, Indonesia or Thailand, and they had always been carbureted all along, and only recently we started seeing models in this category coming out with EFI, like the FZ150N and CB190R.

A lot of older folks are afraid of EFI because they fear the costs of repairing them (which is true) but wrongly project the service intervals of carbs on them. We still don't have these smartphone app tuners though. Might never see em for quite awhile.
