The best road safety advert I've ever seen. Well done NZ Police.

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I LIKES it!!
Reminds me of the UK one, where the car sees the bike, pulls out anyway, the bike hits him on the side window, Absolutly GREAT film work, got the 'Money' shot getting the effects to have the rider going thru the side window (if it was me, id have me fukn fist aimed at his noggen!!)

'Shock n awe' - We ALL need it once ina while, a good Slap around the face witha Salmon, thats what really some of these 'Cage occupiers' need? (Was going to say 'Drivers', but a Driver is in control of their vehicle, LOTS of idiots today just use cars as a way of combining eating/TxTing/Paperwork/Make-up/etc on their way to work/play/etc.

A rider CANNOT lose concentration, cant do make-up, Texting, etc. Coz if they do, well you can insert 'CrazyCrash' here!!

They should Pull drivers over and FORCE them to watch that shit, coz their obvously tooo Friggn busy FaecesBooking/TxTing/Dealing with kids/etc to watch, LISTEN, Learn, and 'Maybe' save a life today???
My 2c.

This is a very good ad, but it doesn't change me much...
I agree that speeding is bad. I honestly speed more in my car than on my bike though. I have a lot of roads that go out for miles without anything around. Very easy to hit excessively high speeds without the possibility to harm others. I don't speed around others (not excessively anyway. To me 5-10 over the limit isn't really speeding). When there are cross roads I'm not going at an extremely high speed either.

That being said, I do think that ad is doing a great job of getting the point across. It's not the person speeding that always causes the wreck. Just like in the ad, it can be the person that isn't paying attention, or didn't judge the speed and distance correctly, that causes the wreck. But it could have been avoided if all parties involved weren't doing things they shouldn't have (speeding, makeup, texting, other distractions)

Graphically excellent. But I do have one concern with this video. It suggests that a SMIDSY moment is a "mistake" while the speeding driver is most at fault and about to kill the SMIDSY dad and possibly his kid. The speeder won'y get off scot free, but the airbag is likely to help in some way.

It just feels a little weird and disconcerting that the full message is not being portrayed. Have I just misinterpreted it?

Idk this just seems to be a classic you dont have reaction and braking time when speeding commercial! Stating that ya pulling out was a mistake but speeding was the real cause of the accident, since more than likely in a "PERFECT WORLD" the crasher would have locked up the brakes and stopped well short of the guy pulling out! it is EXTREMELY well done and actually impactful (to me atleast compared to the stupid DUI ones in the states that show cars and Motorcycle helmets filled with booze!) I say whoever created this video should produce the ones here in the states!!!!

This ad is really well done, It makes you think though, what else could happen if you were to drive the speed limit.
Common Rule where i grew up was 5 over. But for once I actually had to drive at the speed limit in an attempt to not over-heat my car during my 4 hour trip back to college and work. (thankfully it hasn't over heated since) i felt like i was in more danger driving at the "speed limit" than when i drive at my normal pace. Of course the safest thing to do on the highway is to drive at the speed of traffic. But even on the normal town roads around here, I feel like im in danger driving slower than my normal pace since everybody speeds.

So as much as this ad is effective, Unfortunately the problem will always persist unless everybody starts following the posted speed limits.

I like the ad. It successfully highlights the "accident" by both parties. The problem is it forgets defensive driving techniques that everyone should use... the speeding driver at the 2 second mark should have been on the brakes whether the car stopping at the intersection was moving or not. The whole problem would go away. Thats what we do on bikes... I see it in nearly every motovlog I watch. You always see bikers easing on the brakes saying "dont pull out". We are taught that in rider training and it has to be the most effective anti-accident strategy in existence.

To me 5-10 over the limit isn't really speeding).
This is a dangerous idea to have, and I dont think you really mean it??? Sometimes the speedlimit itself is a dangerous speed while sometimes 50 over is no more risky. I must say, I dont think you should be seeing a speed sign and thinking "i'll speed up to 5 over because im going too slow". You should be driving to the conditions.

I like the ad.... The bit that gets me the most is where SMIDSY and speedy exchange this ... But my son is in the car!... I'm moving too fast...

The look of regret and pain on smidsy's face portrays a LOT!!

I don't think it's weighted either way overall.... The ad is better taken as a whole... not busted into whose fault/more wrong ...

I'd love to see the repertoire expanded to cover more situations... Bikes cars trucks buses .... Even cyclists!!

The first vid is a great way to actually put the point across of how dangerous it is too creep and speed. The second video with the wrx, thats probably the best way to really get someone involved emotionally.
