General Testing the odometer accuracy on my 2018 Goldwing

In this motovlog I ride 100 miles exactly to test the odometer accuracy on my 2018 Goldwing, for science. Along the ride there is some nice Fall foliage too!

This was inspired by another motovlogger, AmerSheikh, who recently tested his 2019 Goldwing's odometer and found it was off by 3-4%. I needed to know how much mine was off by too!

I think some bikes now have a setting that allows you to adjust the speedo/odometer for tyre wear. On bikes without it, I think they are set up so that the speedo will always read slightly faster than the bike would be going on a brand new tyre so as to stop you getting done for speeding with the speedo showing a legal speed. This means that a worn tyre would have an even greater error and would read an even higher speed and mileage.

My wonderful beast was almost 13% off on the speedo. Does not seem to be much in the lower speeds but get up in the triple MPH and it can be bit much. I found out using a FuelPak 3 calibrating the speedo.

Yeah, the way the techs explained it was HD does not want folks getting in too much trouble. My take is HD is trying to make their riders fell more macho without giving them the speed.
