Review Testing A Gimbal On The Bike

Looks great! Especially on the more stable chest-mount. Some lovely roads and riding too :) Wonder why it keeps falling asleep?? And the bike too???

I hope it's a firmware problem, I'll find out next week when I get back home.

It should be great one it's sorted, it will really shine on the mountain passes.

Looks the nuts (when awake) like the rear mounted gyro cams on moto GP
They will work a lot better on a track add it week be far another than the roads. Either that or mine's faulty :p

Sorry for the multiple posts, I can't multi quote on my phone.

When I raise enough money from my sticker sales, I am going to buy the Zhiyun Z1-Ridr Version2 Gimbal.

I didn't want one with a separate cabled battery unit, which is why I went for the Feiyu Tech offering.

I've updated the firmware now so we'll have to see how it goes next time I can get the bike out.

Hows the battery life? That would be my concern with the Feiyu. Also the weight of the mounted unit. The cabled unit of the Z1-ridr keeps most of the mass off the mount. Granted you have to deal with the cable and such.....

I get just over 1.5 hours in my tests, but it is cold here which can really affect battery life.

It comes with 2 sets of batteries and takes 10 seconds to swap them over.

I don't think a UK track would allow it to be honest. It might be alright but it's all about the tether these days and it looks bulky?

Suction mounts are now pretty much banned on tracks, well the ones I've done. Thats quite a new thing though

It depends on how you mount it, as it can be mounted directly on the bike and it's very low profile then.

On a chest mount or suction cup it's definitely a hazard.

Pretty nice, still way too pricey for me to consider. Wonder how it would perform on my DIY pole, I don't think it would work well, the pole sways too much and the sensors will probably go ape-shit crazy trying to correct itself. :)
