Hi All
Seeing as i am a sponsor and think its a once in a life time trip just thought i would give Teapot one a shoutout, round the world 2012 on a GSX-R 1000 LO, Here is a bit about him:-

In October 2012, I will be embarking on the charity event of a lifetime and fulfilling a promise. I'll be riding my motorbike around the world to raise funds & awareness for my selected charities. I'll visit various associated projects, discovering the work they carry out, & help out where I can. En-route, I'll be visiting each of the World Superbikes (WSB's) tracks around the world and completing a lap of each one on the very same weathered bike I'm taking around the world!
We are now proud to announce that TeapotOne will be carbon neutral thanks to our friends at Climate Care. We have taken responsibility for our carbon emissions produced by the project as we travel around the globe for charity. Through Climate Care we shall invest in projects globally, helping to replace fuel-hungry inefficient technologies with low carbon efficient technologies in developing countries. It's a fantastic investment because not only does it reduce emissions, it helps spread the adoption of low carbon technologies (many of which are award-winning) and improves the quality of life for communities and individuals alike.
It appears that we are the first project of this kind to adopt this carbon neutral approach. Yet another reason to associate your company with TeapotOne.
It may sound obvious, but riding a sports motorbike over 100,000 miles, through over 66 countries, in 12-16 months, is not only sheer madness, but it may also be a New World Record! The Guinness World Records are currently researching the details of the TeapotOne project to ensure we are in play, and so far it appears we are all set for our own world record attempt.
My journey will involve taking the bike from race track to road, from road to dirt track, from dirt track to desert, and everything in between. I'll document the whole journey for you to follow here on this site, so make yourself at home, have a butcher's at what's available, & spread the word!
And while you're at it, please donate to my chosen charities. Thank You.
None of the funds raised by public donations will be utilised by me on my journey.
ALL DONATIONS GO STRAIGHT TO THE CHARITIES.
My Story
So how did we get here then? A few years ago I moved my ailing mum in with me whilst she went through her last course of treatment for cancer. I was 32 yrs old, watching my mum fight like a trojan every single day against something I could do nothing to combat. In my early years I'd played rugby to a good level, kept myself fit in the gym, worked the doors of Glasgow, and spent 6yrs on the front line of the Capital's elite public order unit, yet I could do nothing to help my mum in her fight for life. It wasn't just her it was killing.
During her time with me in my flat, we'd often sit and chat, chat about anything & everything. As her fight dragged on & on, she became more & more reflective on her life, gradually finding peace with her lot. I remember sitting on the couch with her watching Ewan & Charley as they tackled their 'Long Way Round' & I was mesmerised. I didn't even ride a bike at this time but I instantly knew it was for me. But I had a career, I had a life, I couldn't just drop it all & swan off around the world?
What changed my life was a simple conversation with my mum. One day she said to me, "Don't ever have regrets, look after those you love, but live your life". That was it, I booked my Direct Access & went for it. I'll never forget the look of pride on her face as I walked into her ward at the St Christopher's hospice in Penge, fully clad in leather 'power ranger' suit, with my spanking new Suzuki GSX-R 600 outside. She looked me straight in the eye & with her voice weak, frail & fragile, she whispered, "you'll do it?", & I promised her I would. She died 6 days later on the 23rd July 2008. I miss her dearly.
But I didn't want to be just another bloke going off around the world. I didn't want my trip to be just 'another road trip'. It means so much more to me, it has been my world for the last year & will continue to take over my very being for at least the next 2yrs ahead. I'll be leaving my career behind – a job that took me 2 yrs to get into. I'll be leaving my son behind, although I have his full support & love. Although single when I first began planning, I've since found that 'Special Someone' & shall be leaving her behind too. Am I mental?
My motivation behind TeapotOne is intensely personal & I know I will succeed. But I wanted this incredible venture to be as special to other people as it is to me. I could see the potential of the trip, the drive, the excitement, the sense of wonder it could awaken and inspire. It had to be different in order to stand out from the crowd, & it had to be my own personal challenge.
As soon as I set the idea of riding around the world in my head, I knew I had to take a sportsbike & not the typical BMW-GS purpose built steed now common place in every magazine article. In my eyes that has been done, & although by no means an easy option, I wanted something different. I've always ridden sportsbikes. I ride them on the track, I ride them on the road, I tour the Uk & abroad on them, I ride them in sun, rain, wind, snow & ice. I know them & most importantly I'm comfortable on them. To me it was the only option, I'd take one around the world, out of it's comfort zone to places it shouldn't go to whilst getting it to where it truly belongs (the race track), through desert, jungle, mud, rock, gravel & track (1 lap of each WSB circuit), & I'd bring it home.
