Teaching A Passenger How To Ride With You?

Do any of you know of a good video that will teach a passenger how to sit on a bike and how to lean with the rider? my girlfriend wants to start being a passenger on my bike but she has no experience on a motorcycle. She does not yet understand how you have to move your weight to be able to turn. Would like to show her a video that will teach her how and why she needs to do these things.

Search blahdeblah52 for his pillion advice, it's all common sense from that vid. I've not yet found a volunteer to sit on the back of mine :)

Ive had a couple different girls on the back of my bike, from never being on a bike to almost steering from the back seat.

Its fairly common sense. Go over the braking then clearly, or you nuts will get smashed...alot

When you two up you find neutral alot, when your trying to make it comfy for your passenger or trying to prevent helmet smack youll start shifting soft alot.

Quick shifting (or clutchless shifting) is the way to go when you have a pillon. So smooth that she can't know you are changing gear :D.

Gear is fine. i can shift and get going no problem. I Just need to teach her where she should keep her hands. what she should do when i stop. what she should do when I do turns or corner. How she needs to get on and off the bike. I can tell her 1000 times but she wont get it she needs a video that explains it to her

Tell her not to sit upright when she panics.

My missus nearly killed me just because she couldn't see over the brow of a hill (I could see fine) on a slight bend and sat bolt upright!

Not a lot you can do about where the bike is going from the backseat but plenty you can do to make sure it doesn't go the right way then I take it? :)

Yes, i remember the first time my mom ever rode on my dads bike (87 yamaha royale) everytime they went around the corners she would lean opposite of my dad, because she didnt want to be that close to the pavement....The first time we stopped the general consensus was if you dont lean your gonna be on the pavement.

Whatever you do dont let her talk you into shit. I had a girl get on my bike and after cruising around she asked me to go faster..so i went a little faster. Next time we stopped she asked me why i wont pop a wheelie with her on the back...i wouldnt do it. She would stand up ocasionally, and being on a sport bike you know where those pegs are. Then theres the turning on the highway crap. she wanted me to take a particular exit, rememeber the guy with his head sticking out of the back of the semi trailer....that exit, and i didnt want to do it 2 up, she grabbed my jacket and leaned...i had to take the exit...its okay though i took her straight home and never took her on my bike again.

Damn man that is one crazy girl. My girl knows not to do shit like that. When im driving or riding im doing my own thing and she knows not to fuck around. She respects my bike as much as i do. I think i may just find a big empty parking lot and practice therr with her to get her use to the bike and how it feels.

Just need to tell them to lean with you and not fight it, and under braking put there hands on the tank to brace themselfs .

Videos are overrated when it comes to this, 2up is a trust thing, sit down and talk to them about it. Leaning with you, hands on tank when breaking etc.

Nah i dont think its a trust thing, like you get riders on the back its easier than someone whos never been on a bike, they know the principle of riding a bike

There are articles, but videos, I say can't I've come across any myself. Prop the bike on a center stand or paddock stand, get the pillion on the designated seat, and give your advise, repeat it a few times, should fare much better I guess.

He's a mate of mine. You can't look him in the eyes else he goes mental

Totally off topic

I'll see if I can find my first video of me giving my mate a pillion. He was the worst pillion ever. It went semi viral back then

My girlfriend and I started riding two up recently, I told her to just trust me + the bike and look over my shoulder the direction that we're turning. She did great. I didn't tell her to put her hands on the tank, but she did it naturally. She was kind of uneasy the first time, but after riding around a bit she absolutely loves riding now, to the point where she said she wants a bike in the future.

The other half since being on the back the other week wants to go out more on the bike. I might do a video on it but because she can ride as well I might do a vlog from the pillions perspective. Might look weird being the "b*tch on the back" to some older riders but I might make the sacrifice, I'll get a nice view from behind at least. ;)
