Tagging Footage.. What If Your Method?

HD2

Put your head in my helmet!
Currently the only transportation I have is my motorcycle, which means I ride daily. I also record (using a gopro hero silver) every time I ride. SOO As of now if anything happens I have a days worth of footage to go through. I try tagging my footage by just placing my hand over the camera for about 5 - 10 seconds so that I can find it as I scrub through my footage.

What do you use to tag your footage? Ive seen gopro wrist bands that can tag but I thought they only recorded the last 30 seconds. Is there any way to continue to record and tag the footage?

I think your method makes sense. I do that for cuts on short clips. You could add to it with a few revs for an audio cue as well.

I just wave a glove in front of all applicable cameras for a few seconds, as well as make a note of what's going on and why in the audio track.

I also cover with my hand and say something whilst doing it so i have a note as to what to do with either prior or coming footage.

I never thought of this....I just watch thru my WHOLE footage.

You just saved me a lot of time!

Ha! I was doing that as well but found it too daunting when I have several hours of footage.

Gopro should update with a setting that would allow you to tag footage and create a break in the recordings!

Aww snap! Good idea! Why didn't it occur to me, ugh. Nice share guys.

On the Hero4 I think you can press the side button to "mark" the point in the video during recording, maybe something interesting or etc. I never used it, and I'm not sure if the "mark" appears only in the GoPro editing program or on other video editing programs as well.

Ill have to try that. I think it only works if you export from the gopro app which is tough considering I dont use the gopro app!

Just stop recording and start again. It will start a new file with a new number in the file name. So you only have to look at the end of the videos to find what you want.

I just fast forward my footage, never thought of tagging it. What would be handy is that I had a camera that saves the first and last 5 minutes under another filename.
