Well not really, I work in IT and build datacenter networks, reject your firewall tickets and moan over poorly planed projects that as a last resort ask "the network people" to step in and fix everything.

But other than that I'm a learning rider and I'm looking to get my license in 2018. Always been into bikes my whole life, more or less and I'm pretty sure there's a picture of me on my (favorite) uncle's BMW from like 1987 or something to back that up, but financially never really been able to take the leap and get all the gear and start riding - until now.

So why am I on a motovloging site if I don't have the license to drive a bike yet? Well I enjoy watching motovlogs, not gonna name any favourites, and I really liked the idea of documenting my progress if only for myself. So my lovely spouse bought me a Contour+2 for christmas, and I knew about the Contour label so I was quite thrilled she had ponied up that kind of cash just for little old me and this thing I'm doing. But sadly the camera was unstable, would drain the battery if I didn't pop it out over night and after doing a "start-stop" recording the camera would not work until I did yet another battery pull. So I had a refund and the guy at the store offered me a GoPro Session as consolation but the thing with the Contour that I liked was the 2.5mm microphone jack. I've seen enough motovlogs and setup videos to know that as a main camera I want something with just the 2.5mm or 3.5mm jack instead of a bulky usb-converter thingy. Also it has just like the Drift a rotatable lens which is also real nice. Of course none of that matters if the thing it's supposed to be good at does not work. It was obviously a broken camera but the store did not sell them anymore and well I can't get a new one easily.

So right now I'm eyeballing the Drift Ghost S HD because it checks the same boxes, and I've seen plenty of footage with it from some of my favorite motovlogers to feel confident in it. However it is not easy to get a hold of in Sweden so that's mainly my hump right now.

So any suggestions on other cameras are welcome, I know there's a separate part on the forums for this kind of discussion, but if you do choose to answer to this post feel free to tell me your thoughts on the camera choice, the Sena 10c also looks like a nice camera but again it's not easy to come by here in sweden. And the import tax from amazon is just .. no just no.

Hiya, welcome to the forum. I only have experience with the GoPro Hero Five Black and Hero Five Session so can't help regarding camera choice. Could you not tie in a weekend holiday to somewhere where you can buy the camera you want at a better price so not have to pay import tax on it?

The ghost s has been replaced by the 4K that’s why it’s hard to get.

The 4K no longer has a mic jack and uses USB. I’ve had a ghost s for 3 years now and it’s been rock solid. So if you can find one grab it.
 
Welcome. Documenting your progress is great. Just be sure to review it a few months after you progress to see what past you has to say about things.
 
Welcome to the forum. I'm a Drift Ghost S user as well. Do the same import taxes apply to an e-bay purchase?

So I got a hold of a used Ghost S on Ebay, and by used I mean it was in mint condition. The only thing is with my AGV K5 it's so damn pointy and has this phased groove pattern on the side that the only place I could mount it was right behind where the visor connects. No big deal though, I mean the video is still 160 degress FOV, but I spent a good time trying to find some semiflat surface to mount it too besides where it sits now or on top of the helmet.

So now I'm just waiting for all this snow to melt. I passed my theoretical exam so now I'm going into hard training mode to pass the practical exam, when the snow melts that is. *rolls eyes*

And about import taxes: I bought this from a guy in the UK which still is a part of the EU, so no extra charges are added and if i purchase from Amazon they calculate the costs for me, so I run no risk of paying too little for my goods and being charged once it's here. But when it comes to buying things from across the pond it's a whole different thing. I bought some keyrings from motoloot, top quality I do say, but when the import taxes and fees to the tolls are added they where about twice as expensive. Worth it though. :)
 
Hey, welcome to m the Drift club! Not sure if you need one, but in the future if you run into sound quality problems due to wind noise I’d suggest looking into a faux fur windscreen (sometimes called a dead cat) to go over your external mic. Makes a big difference.

I have the same camera as us and have loved it from day one.

Thanks for the tip I've seen many use those even inside the helmet when mounting their external mic, and I actually bought a external microphone from Drift Innovation earlier to use with my Contour+2, which later turned out to be a broken camera. So I have that routed inside my helmet, wether or not I'll use it to talk into is another question. At the first though the idea was to have it inside the helmet in order to eliminate as you said the wind noise and not for talking into, but we'll see where I go with that. :)

I passed my exam today!

Fantastic weather, a super nice lady from the Trafikverket who was our instructor. Also one goofball that had never even seen the maneuver courses used in the test, three guesses what happened to him (spoiler: he cramped up, drove straight through a set of cones and almost flipped the bike while locking his front brakes.).

Now the easy part was recording lots of rides, turned out editing is not something that came as natural to me. But we'll see, maybe I'll find time now that summer vacation is here too do me a little late night editing.

All the hours on the road and on the maneuver course payed off, and it's a bit sad in a way that me and my buddy won't go out riding 1-2 hours every other night every week. :)
 
Congrats dude. Over time you'll find editing to be easier, I can recommend looking up typical editing techniques and pitfalls.

If you ever find yourself in eastern Norway, feel free to come by in Hamar.

Thank you, and everyone else. :)

Right now I'm using Lightworks because it's free. I have also tried Adobe Premiere Pro. I liked Adobe a bit more but I have yet to get a subscription to it. I'd purchase it but I kind of think the subscription modell is too expensive, so I'm trying to stick with Lightworks but I've had some stability issues while scrubbing large files and even importing certain files that worked fine in Premiere.
 
Can you lower the presentation quality in Lightworks? In Premiere if a clip or sequence has hi res footage that is a challenge for a graphics card to run you can have things play at a lower quality (for playback purposes - it doesn’t reduce the quality of the original clip(s) ).

Also see if you can clean out you cache files assigned to Lightwork.
