Superview Vs Wide

Hello, I've been doing quite a few test the past week and have noticed something. Superview (expansive mode on Garmin Virb) provides the best point of view, but it seem to deteriorate the image quality quite a bit vs the regular Wide mode on the camera. I'm using a Garmin Virb Ultra 30 and the image quality drops when using that feature. Currently I see best results in 2.7k 60fps.

Is it the same with the GoPro camera? Does it loose detail in superview and do you guys have any ideas how to remedy this?


p.s. Would it matter to you as a viewer if the view is not as wide?

Great question, but so far I have not noticed a difference. I use two Gopro Hero4 Silvers and shoot Superview mostly in forward helmet shots. The rear camera is set at wide to narrow depending on frame. Both are 1080p60 most of the time.

Thank you for the answer. I've made 3 test videos (They are unlisted and not monetized obviously). Do you see any notable difference or is it all in my head?
they are named appropriately. What do you guys think i should stick with as a resolution and shooting mode?

p.s. 1440p is still processing for some reason.
p.s. 2 no color correction or adjustment, other than a few cuts to make them a bit shorter.

I liked the Supervise because it showed a lot of the bike and the surroundings.

Here is something to consider, what is your audience viewing the video on and how fast is their data connection? For example, myself and some of riders I associate with do a lot of viewer on smartphones so super detailed resolution like anything above 1080 will not have the full effect it is designed to have. Then factor in data transfer speed and the resolution will drop.

If your audience will not be watching on bigger screens and/or faster data rates, then going that route may not be feasible yet. Things change though as technology improves.
