Subtitle Or Not Subtitle? (expand Viewers) - #1 Spanish Mvlog

Hi everyone! I'd really like to know your opinion.

I make videos since november of last year. things are going great. Since then i've just reached the 18.000 subscribers mark, and reached the pole position of spanish motovlogging.

I like to make different videos. More like an "experience" videos, like riding with me. And maybe this made the channel grow so fast.

I would like to know your opinion. I would like to make my videos enjoyable to other people that doesn't understand spanish.

I'd like to know what do you think about the following video i've just subtitled. Is it understandable? is it attractive for a non-spanish speaking viewer? maybe it goes too fast? any advice?

Please don't consider this spam. I'm not searching for views or subscribers. It's an experiment and I would like to have the forum's feedback about the reality of subtitling or not.

Subtitles are not something I've ever tbought about. Until now.

I suppose its like watching foreign films. Personally I find it difficult to follow on screen action because I'm too busy reading the writing. Or I'm too busy watching the action that the writing changes before I've had chance to read it.

In general riding with occasional speech then maybe its not so important. But bike reviews could be beneficial if its subtitled.

I have done various maintenance videos for my Yamaha R125, which are aimed at youngsters who have no real knowledge of looking after their first bike. Most of the feedback is from UK viewers. But I suppose if I had a request for subtitles it is something I would consider.

Have you had much request for your vlogs to be subtitled or have you achieved your subscribers without?

Obviously with 18k subscribers you know what you're doing and the videos look very good quality so well done on that.

Personally, i don't think i'd watch regularly/subscribe to a foreign language motovlog. Watching it i was too distracted by the subtitles and trying to watch the video at the same time. This might be just me but a lot of the times i watch youtube videos i will watch them while doing something else like eating/cooking/etc. but with foreign language vlogs i need to be watching constantly and paying my full attention.

Its a difficult issue for you to tackle as if you stick with the subtitled route then you might not get a large portion of that english speaking audience and on the other hand if you try and do some motovlogs in english then you might alienate you're already sizeable subs. Maybe some sort of compilation clips of bad driving etc. would open you up more to the english speakers.

Having subtitles certainly makes the video more understandable for the non-speakers, if you have the patience to include subtitles, go ahead, it's good.

If you have the time to add subtitles, I'd definitely do it.
Personally, I watch motovlog videos to hear what rider have to say more than look at the views.

I was wondering about subtitles myself earlier this year. I gave it a try for my maintenance videos and with subtitles (in Japanese) have twice as many views as the ones where I speak in English only.
I made the maintenance videos to add value to the community and it made sense to me to add the subtitles to make the videos useful to more people.
I found that subtitles are not easy and I've opted to do a running translation and those videos also have twice as many views or in some cases 3 times as many views as the ones done only in English.

Whether subtitles work for me or not can vary. If it's an informative how to video, subtitles are great! If its a high energy action packed segment, I feel like I lose some of it by having to read the subtitles. It can also be difficult for humor to translate intact.

Now I need to look into this more myself. One of the things I have really loved about the proliferation of the internet is the way it connects the entire world. I have played games, shared jokes, and gotten to know people from parts of the world I will never see for myself.

I ride a Ninja 300, a humble "beginner bike" here in the states. In some other countries though this bike gets much more respect. I have a facebook page about the Ninja 300 and a lot of my likes come from over seas. I would love if I could engage with these people who share my passion more.

Problem is I can't speak anything but English. I took German in high school and it was the most difficult class I took. Learning a new language is hard! Not much has stuck with me either, I can count, and tell you what color a jacket or car is and that's pretty much it.
