Stuck at 300

Is this a thing? I have read a couple of posts (not here) where people have been stuck at a certain number of subscribers and took forever to get over the "hump" of where ever they were stuck. 300 is the number that keeps coming up. I have heard the same when approaching 1000.
Been at 309 for a couple of weeks. Hit 310 for a week. Now back to 309. haha
Getting good interaction in the comments and my average view count is up so I am ok with it.
Just wondering if anyone else has had the same stall.

It happens at every milestone. It felt like forever to get to 400 for me, and I’ve been hovering at 412 for a week or more. A watched pot never boils, but you have to be active to attract new viewers an subscribers.

I had a quick look at your channel, and one thing you should try and do, is focus more on Titles/Keywords that people are actually searching for.

When you have a small channel, Search traffic represents a huge portion of your views, until you grow a little bit bigger and you start appearing in Suggested, Homepage, etc..

basically do a bit of keyword research before your next video, and focus on that.

Try VidIQ too - Nate from Channel Makers did a comparo between it and TubeBuddy, and while he found stuff to like about both, he picked VidIQ as the winner for most helpful.

And to reiterate what A2W said - tags & keyword research are greatly helpful. I use Google Trends sometimes to plan stuff to talk about, but I find that I don't like my videos when I try to "force" a subject - my energy is better and my AVD is higher when I just BS about stuff I come up with while on a ride.

That said, I do tags & keyword research whenever I do an install/test/review video, to try and maximize its exposure and thus garner more views & subs

I had a fairly slow gradual crawl in subs for the past year and a couple months, all the way up to 900, but then in the past week I gained 100+ which shot me up over the 1K mark now. It's like a switch got flipped or something!

Dude, you posted a Pan America test ride right as they are hitting showrooms... the views & subs you got from that are to be expected I bet if you [snark] actually checked your YT analytics once in a while [/snark], you'd see that the Pan Am vid you posted has gotten you a lot of subs.



Timing, timing, timing. I saw a bump in views & subs when @Dewey316 and I did a vid on the Pan America when the reveal happened... same scenario.

I don't want it to sound like I am complaining about where I am with subs.
Just seemed to have stalled and started reading that it was pretty common. I am further than I thought I would be.
Going to look into vidIQ and dive into TubeBuddy more to work on keywords and tags.
Constructive advice is always welcome.

I think a lot of folk get into a rhythm with what they are doing and stick with it, sharing on the same groups and forums, and see growth initially, but once you have gotten that growth from those places, you need to find new places to share content that it is relevant to. That can be hard to do when you have just one bike or can't get test rides easily etc.

Yep - I think this is where I'm at - the current crop of motovloggers that watch my content have all given me shout-outs, which gave me some subs, but now it's slowed down again... but since I have some how-to and install vids, I post those where applicable and get some extra eyeballs on 'em. Some of those will turn into subs.

I think most channels grow slow at the start. It seems like once the algorithm knows you will keep at it long term it starts promoting your stuff more actively. At least that's what someone told me early on, seems to be true.

Yes, this is a thing for view count as well. They do an audit (computer automated most likely). To insure you are not juicing the count. YouTube lets the first couple hundred views be from you, could be from refreshing the page or just checking out your own video because maybe you want to show people. But after 300 hits/views YouTube checks to makes sure the views are unique to insure they are real views from different people.

Analytics (which are just manipulated statistics after all) are really of no use unless you have a large sample size.

So with that in mind, SighBored has the right idea.
