You may have had an issue attempting to record audio off of a contour + 2 or any contour supporting the external microphone port. This is because the contour unlike the GoPro records with 1 channel, which causes issues when attempting to use any 3.5mm stereo microphone.
There is an easy and cheap fix I'll show you now.
1. Plugin the 2.5mm adapter in the external microphone port
2. Now plugin a 3.5mm female stereo to 3.5mm male mono adapter. They come in 2 main forms shown below the second picture can allow you to use 2 devices to record audio from the same microphone, however 1 works just aswell.
3. Now use any existing 3.5mm stereo microphone, you can tell the difference between stereo and mono by the black bands 1 = mono and 2 = stereo.
