Hey everyone.

Im using the Sony ECMCS3 stereo mic however sound is only coming out of one channel.

I only noticed when I watched one of my vlogs with headphones.

Any ideas? I have had people comment on my videos now stating the same.

Sure its an easy fix I just cant find it haha

Thanks

I have the same issue and I realize the problem is in my mic-adapter on my GoPro, or in the GoPro itself. As a solution I just fill the left channel with the audio from the right one. In Premiere the effect is just called "Fill left with right". I'm sure whatever software you use has a similar function/effect.

Im guessing you are using an aftermarket mic adapter. This is a common issue with them. I do the same thing, use the good side to replace the bad side in post.

This may sound goofy but have you tried only partially inserting the mic, leaving only a mm or two from the end? If the contacts are misaligned inside the female end, it could skip a connector.

Also check in the hole for any debris if the male connector is not going all the way in.

It also could be mic placement in the helmet if the other channel is only get some sound.

Hey guys,

Thanks for the heads up!

Im editing tonight so will report back what I find.

Ill also check the connectors out too!

Great help

Oh and I am going to invest in an official gopro mic adapter when I find one that fia the 4!

Yeah, they are getting hard to find. I bought a couple of extra online from B&H photo here in the US.

I have saved that website! Ill get one shipped over

That's good news. My first one lasted more than a year then I made the mistake of letting the wire bend too sharp near the connector and it broke the strands inside it and would not work all the time.

I have been able to make one that works in stereo with the right angle connector at the camera. Not real pretty, or as water proof as the official, but it works for me.
