Squeak!

Not riding much at the moment but with Stenno and his Christmas message I thought I might try a ride, wheeled the bike out to a very heavy front end and a nasty squeak.

Road grit and salt had bunged up the front brakes.

So in the cold weather I did actually wash the bike... and HA! A picture to prove it cos you lot are a bunch of unbelievers!

But after washing it, I didn't want to take it out on the salt laden roads, so it got dried, oiled etc and packed away.

I havnt cleaned mine since like july? At the moment in the kind of weather im getting down here combined with me living out in the country side it will only stay clean for mins

Ok...Every year my brother and I ride around my parents' neighborhood in nothing but sunglasses and underwear on Christmas day. Just a tradition. I supppose that since this washing a bike in incliment weather thing is such a big deal I will do 2 vids on Christmas! :o  8-)

I rinse mine everyday after riding and give her a proper wash every two weeks. Can't stand the prospect of having a rusty corroded bike!

That is a nice looking bike! Ever since I dropped mine on track last year I've given up washing her, poor thing.

Mine was last washed on the 25th of november. It is already looking like I have taken it on an enduro and used greenlanes for 500 miles.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but that won't fix it!

Get the calipers off (still leaving the brakelines attached), take the pads out, and get the pistons cleaned up as best as you can with an old toothbrush.

It's a pretty easy job to do, and will save you a full and very expensive strip-down later on if you do this every few months, or even a couple of times a year. Once you've got to grips with it all you'll be able to have the whole job done and back together in 20-30 mins easily. It helps if you have a g-clamp to push pistons back in or hold one as you pump the other out.

I bought my GPZ around September. Washed it for the first time a couple of weeks ago and the exhaust fell off during the next week!

I'm not washing it again. Ever. :(
