Splitters/Adapters for multi mic

Hey Gang,

So I need to record the dialogue from a Sena speaker. I don't have a GoPro for the Sena backpack. Anyhow.

I'm trying to track down a splitter or 2 into 1 cable. The male part MUST be 2.5mm and ideally the female parts 2.5mm also. But not critical as finding 3.5mm mics is easy enough. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Captain Cranky put me on the right path. But struggling to get that 2.5mm male jack. Outta context that would be so wrong . Thought i'd cast this out to some other savvy folk to hone in on a unit to do the job.

I did find a splitter that fits the bill. However, it has 4 POLE and the mics have 2 or 3. Would that affect the linkage between the M/F parts and then the audio? I reckon it might. Thoughts?

Don't forget impedance matching of mics will be important here otherwise one source will massively overpower the other. It may be easier to just record the other track seperately using a dictophone or otherwise so that you can balance things in post. Only issue would be synching it up.

yeah its got to be 2.5mm male...the hunt is on. There has to be one! found one that does 2.5 to a 2.5 and 3.5. The cable option is better than a box shaped splitter. For running leads into lid i think. Getting close tough. Cheers mate

mmm interesting. so glad i threw this into the community, not even thought of that. Actually I can achieve that setup now (separate audio recorder). Will test it. The reason I want the cable is to not have a lead hanging from lid and extra batts. Synching is not so tricky. And realistically I wont need it every ride. Thanks for the feedback.

test went well, will be different on the bike...great minds hey, that alternative had crossed my mind. Won't get into that yet. But if i scream or start coughing in a vid its from a zap or smoke in the lid ill let ya know how it works out.

Yeah its finding the 2.5mm male. Think Contour made a mistake with that. Anyway. This setup ive just tested works and the the "hardest" bit will be synching. Think I'll leave it as is. As I said i won't be dual vlogging all the time.

I do use this method, but I use a Drift Ghost and 2 drift mics as described here:

This worked quite well, but then I added a third mic, so I can have:
1 mic for my voice
1 mic for Wifey's voice on the intercom (put mic near speaker)
1 mic for engine sound (can't afford a louder pipe)

And now am working it all out again. Having 3 mics into one input has decreased the impedance so the drift is now distorting even on mic setting 1.
Now I'm looking for a splitter with volume control. Might as well just buy an old telephone switchboard and mount it to my helmet!

I'm convinced I will find a solution though

I thought you'd done some setup how to. Cheers for the link. Cheeky Cap'n. I've sorted it out and its fine. Just wanted to streamline setup but really. I'm not going to dual vlog much. And its not that hard to sync or run the mic to an external recorder I had. Just get carried away with gear. Ill keep looking and know you'll find a way to sort your 3 mics.

So the test on the bike. Mixed results. Need to adjust Sena volume and input sensitivity on the Zoom H1. When its sorted ill let you all know with a pic and likely first dual vlog. Have also an app that records from bluetooth mics. Will try and pair the Sena and app and compare audio. Cheers Gang.

yeah its the way its gotta be at this stage. And its not for every ride. So its tolerable. I know i few fellas that have had success. Or shake it up and get Sena Prism action camera. Then it'll be super easy
