Well,

At least I can say my channel is finally big enough that spammers will comment that I should check out their music to use in my videos.

That's a step forward....right?

I remove all that crap, I get some think the comment adds to your views etc but I don't want that crap anywhere near my channel!

I wouldn't bother removing those type of comments, it's not really hurting. YT will sometimes auto-detect and auto list them as spam, especially those posting links, and comments asking to go sub to their own channel.

Usually those are the only posts that YT asks me to moderate. They get stuck in the Likely Spam tab, and then my "Inbox Zero" OCD kicks in lol

I've been getting loads too of recent. Is getting annoying, I just block them and report them as spam.

holey shit. I just used that stats website to look at other popular motovlogers on youtube... One youtuber(shan't drop any names) earns $92k a year estimated. With $7.7k a month, estimated. - That literally makes me want to cry and curl up into a ball.. lmao

Coupled with high popularity, they probably have partnered with an MCN as well. Then there is Patreon as well.

I have mixed feelings about both. Being part of an MCN can greatly limit what you are and are not allowed to do.

Patreon can come off as begging. But at the same time, it's no different than PBS.

I do like the idea that people can support you directly if they like your content.

If I ever was in a position where I could make around 3000$/month from direct support I could quit my job and do youtube full time. As much as I would like this, I understand it's not a reasonable goal. I juse don't really think I have that much mass appeal.

Yeah, same boat as me really. Even if i made £500 from support that would allow me to vlog a lot more and do schedules etc..

If I was ever in that sitch, I guess I'd carry on working until I wasn't. UK motovloggers will never be rich (or even above the poverty line if they want to do it for a wage. I'd rather enjoy the hobby than be stressing if I'm gonna make my mortgage or bike payments! :)

I certainly won't stress over it. Just would be nice to be able to focus my time on it.

It's only a dream. A nice dream. But I'm realistic enough to know how unrealistic it is.

I work shifts so can put a bit of time into it, am also not tied down with kids etc so my time is my time. But this is a hobby, yeah I monetise my vids but I'll not see £'s for at least another 3 years. I enjoy editing and sharing, I enjoy interacting with like minded people, I enjoy riding. So s'all cool! :D

I'm in the same boat. Though I'm married with an 11 year old daughter and a son/daughter (find out on the way).

I'm lucky though. For the most part my wife is very supportive of my motovlog and other video endeavors.

I was in a band for three years and was on the cusp of breaking through. My ex-wife really fucked me over in regards to that and it took me a long time to recover. I haven't touched any of my instruments in over 7 years now. Thanks to motovlogging, I've felt an interest in picking all that up again. I had a love affair with audio editing and I love video editing, except for how tedious it can be on a slow computer.

If I could, I would write my own lyrics and music, and add songs to my vids that I had recorded.... I can't even play the triangle though lol :D My intro and outro lyrics are my own though! :)
