Sony put out some footage of their new action cam, didn't look to hard to see if anyone has put it up here yet.
$200USD or $270USD for the WiFi model. Ships Sept 21 I think.

Wonder if it has a mic input. Can't seem to find where it would state that and I can't find any pictures of the rear of the camera. That may just because I am really tired right now, too.

Damn Toasty, you must be really tired. It says right there in your second link that there's a mic input.

This thing, like every other action camera on the market, gets some things right and other things terribly wrong. I'm sure it will produce a great image. Sony is known for good audio so the audio should be great. The problem is the thing is massive. It may be light weight but it's huge. The lens doesn't rotate like the Drift, unless I missed something. It seems to need a case, like the GoPro, to be waterproof.

In my opinion the camera that comes closest to what motovloggers need is the Drift in any of its various configurations. Unfortunately they have quality issues. I think most of those quality issues are software related so there is hope that eventually they'll get it right. So far though it seems every firmware update fixes one problem and creates another.

I don't understand why a company coming into this so late in the game can't learn from everyone else's mistakes and make a camera with the best features from all of the competitors. All I really want is a Drift HD that works consistently.

looks nice, but big....ugh would have thought with Sony's resources they could pull off something much more compact while keeping great quality/features

I don't understand all the whining about the size. It's smaller and lighter than the Drift HD according to the specs on their respective web sites.

Well then they did a crappy photoshop job when they put it on that guys head or he has an extremely small head because my Drift HD is nowhere near that size.

Doesn't include the water proof housing

Good point. Never mind! :?

Even with the housing it is still tiny. It's just tall and skinny. On the side of a helmet it would look super slim. I don't know what you're expecting if you ask for a lower profile camera than this...
