So beyond frustrated with GoPro hero 7

CVentures

Rookie Rider
Went out solo once last week and set the camera at 4K 60, got back and found that every clip i took the camera would freeze for a few frames every 5-10 seconds. Did some research and people were saying i needed to buy a SD card off the recommended list, so i dropped almost $70 on a SD card on the list. Few days later we went on a group ride and i recorded 4K 30 frames without issue, i used 30 because my buddies have older cameras that max at 30 frames. fast forward to Monday’s ride, in which there was alot of great content and i had the camera set to 4K 60, get back, and every clip is freezing every 5-10 Seconds for a clip or two. I want to SCREAM! This is no way for a newbie you tuber to get started. I’m so frusterated!

Is it legit? Lots of fakes. Sucks but what can you do, record at 1080/60, 2160/30, whatever you need to do to get your current set up and working. Next time do a load of test recordings at home before venturing out on the bike.

I know it sounds like a daft question - but is it freezing when you are viewing it on your PC? Some computers struggle to cope with 4K in general but at 60fps its a lot of data to crunch . I film in 2.7k as my stuff is going up on YouTube wich is compressed anyway - in 2.7 I find the editing process alot quicker and easier on my ageing editing PC .

I did mention that it could be this in the last thread about this, also mentioned how to test, what it is a bit,

This sounds more like a playback hardware issue than the SD cards to me. Some PC's just won't play it, some GPU's can't render. It's as simple as that.

I forgot Purp was an IT bofin - Some one should put a sticky that says" Ask Purp if its IT " :) Im an old git that doesn't have a smart phone and still calls them "computers"

ok i needed to come on here and forgive the GoPro when in fact come to find out its my cheap SSD thats causing the issue. I saved the footage directly to my ipad and it was perfectly fine. Lesson learned, so I’m replacing it tomorrow with one of the new Samsung t7 SSD’s

Yeah my kaktop will struggle to playback anything over 1080 so could be hardware related...

When I started motovlogging my ten year old PC couldn't handle playing or editing anything over 1080p, it simply would not do it. I built a new modern PC recently and now I can edit or playback anything at all, even 4K @ 120fps smooth as butter on bread.

I still shoot in 1080p though, saves on disk space and extends battery life while riding!

Even with a fresh memory card, I always suggest moving the footage from the card to the device you are going to edit on else it will always cause issues over time as the cards get too hot

^ 100% this, always put the little card into the bigger card (micro to mini?) before transferring and then remove after the transfer is done!!!! Pooley top tip, that!

Tonight I received my new Samsung T7 which seems to be WAY faster than the old SSD, ive spent the last hour moving over all my footage from ipad and the old SSD over to the T7, so excited to shorten the workflow!
