Smeared Camera Lense

Does anyone else have problems with bugs hitting the camera lense during a ride and ruining the video?

Have been out today and had a fly hit the camera, which I made the mistake of trying to wipe clean. Inevitably it smeared the whole picture meaning I lost 30min of recording.

I need to learn to keep away from trying to wipe the camera during the ride and actually stopping at the side of the road and clean it properly.

Nope, never happened on road or track. Think you got unlucky on that one.

A good old fashioned bit of patience, it will fly off again normally

I wipe my lense often, Well i used to when i had textile gloves.

Had lots of footage lost because it was all "Romantic and soft" looking

It's not something that happens all that frequently.. Depending on the time of day you are out riding, certain times there are more bugs flying about.

Constantly. When I ride down by the river i get so many mosquitoes and gnats and moths all over my visor and camera. I use my glove to wipe the lens every couple of minutes between talking or whatever and cut it out in editing :P otherwise i have bugs everywhere.

In general round town or commute vlogging its not causing me too much of an issue due to the lower speeds. The big frustration is when I'm out on a ride using the bigger bike at higher speeds. The routes I ride for pleasure don't have that many junctions or traffic lights where I have to stop so quite often I loose 10-15 mins of footage just because the camera can't see properly. For some reason my glove just amplifies the problem from a small area of the lens to smearing the whole lens.

This year does seem to have been worse than previous years though.

I've had issues before, especially with the warmer Virginia months...I have a camera lens safe cleaner and swab kit I use.
