Thing about the MT-10 is that it looks good because its ugly, Yamaha made a good move when they deliberately went in for a "purpose over form" styling. I'm sure it would grow on you if you got one.
Personally I'm all over the MT-07

Is the mt10 pretty much a naked R1?

Nope. It's missing quite a bit of stuff. However that could actually mean it's a better road bike than the r1.
But over here r1's aren't selling well so there are deals being done meaning the price gap between the two is quite small at the moment.

Will actually come down to which one excites me more. Given the price of the mt10 I will be looking around at some of the other brands as well.
