So got my perfect college job!

Delivering for a new Jimmy Johns opening up - managed by a old buddy of mine even!
The best part - can ride my zzr or my ruckus for delivery.

I intend since the first couple days will probably be nuts to take my cage so that I have enough room for sure to fit possibly multiple orders. After a week though I plan to be always riding the ruckus or even the zzr.

Now, that said I need some cold riding suggestions since it's already sitting in 40's here.

Originally I wanted a full suit but then realized it'd be kind of hard to swap the suit on and off when I go in the store since I have to be in appropriate uniform inside the store.
I need to wear jeans/khakis(no cargos) - so trying to think of what I can do for that that'll still be warm with some protection.

Then I'm mainly trying to find the warmest jacket I can find that is just zip/unzip.

Aside from that my helmet is good, and my thermal socks and riding shoes keep my feet warm enough and I plan to get some bar-mitts. Mainly trying to figure out what to do for the jacket/pants.

Also a bit offtopic of my main question - but we do deliver drinks (just typical fast food cups/plastic lids) - any suggestions for carrying these on my bike? I should be fine carrying them on my Ruckus but not sure how to go about it on the bike to avoid spilling.

Thanks for any and all suggestions!

Get a tank bag and put the drinks in there. You can stuff it with a shirt or something to help support them. Put a couple pieces of tape on the lid and it won't pop off.

Tourmaster makes some ridiculously warm jackets. I've got one that will cause me to sweat if I wear it in 50+ weather.

Some of those handlebar muffs would probably work quite well also, might allow you to wear smaller gloves which will make handling money a whole lot easier.

could I ask you what jacket you have Trinith and where you picked it up from?

Kevlar jeans I already have but definitely are not warm enough for riding in 20-30 degree weather. Best thing i can think of now is wearing sweat pants underneath them unless anyone has any better ideas.

How often will you be in the store compared to out on delivery? I'd be speaking to your boss if I was you and explaining that your job isn't a fashion parade. Get yourself some decent textile trousers with knee and hip protection in as part of a matching two piece suit. You can get plain black ones that look smart enough.
As for delivery I would have thought a top box? Do Jimmy John's not provide you with anything to help out?

Better make sure your insurance covers you for business use. They've been cracking down on vehicles being used for deliveries with just SD&P round here.

May be a totally different system over there of course. If so, just ignore me!

no they dont provide anything really.
For delivery they don't really care what you deliver with as long as you can get the stuff there. Most people will be driving their cars but forget that haha!

I really can't say how busy we'll be - store isn't open yet we're doing training this week.

And yeah I delivered for pizza hut for the last 2 years and never had my insurance say anything to me about it of course I never really told them I deliver, although that was in my car.

Unfortunately they're very strict on policies and I don't think asking to be excluded from the uniform would work. I'm thinking my best bet might just be kevlar jeans /w long underwear and maybe my flannel pants between the underwear and jeans. Then a good leather riding jacket like Trinith mentioned above.

The ones I use are textile. 100% waterproof and have an awesome inner jacket. Unfortunately I couldn't find either of them, I think they were discontinued... Look for something listed as 3/4 length, and find one specifically intended for winter use and you'll probably be fine.

pretty important tip for cold weather riding
cold tires suck
leave extra time for your tires to warm up before really taking turns/ accelerating.. almost got me today pulling out of a gas station... and its not even really cold yet.

Whenever I have to wear jeans or non-riding pants during the colder season I just throw on a pair of long underwear or flannel pijama pants underneath the denim jeans. They are surprisingly soft and help tremendously with the cold weather, but do not cause a significant problem when staying indoors for extended periods either.
