That won't work, the videos need to be in AMV format, they need to be converted to be playable and AMV is a very crappy and inefficient format.
If you want to go the portable MP3 way, some Rockchip players have good video format support but the chips are outdated. They don't even support anything HD.
I'm not saying you should get an ipad or a Galaxy tab or an Acer Iconia, most cheap chinese tablets will do.
There's nothing more mainstream (and cheaper because of that) than a tablet and if you pick the right one it'll work exactly for what you need it.
I had this one.
It has all the ports you might need when on-the-go
It isn't the newest, it has an Allwinner A10 SoC.
And they're not even THAT expensive, you can get something like that for u$s 75 or even less.
A 7" tablet with a newer Allwinner A13 is $72.11
here. Or you can have a small one, GPS sized but with less features
like this one here for $52.10.
Still cheaper than bringing a notebook computer.
Most cameras are smart enough not to charge when powered on (drift cameras only charge when powered off) but it's good to have the option if you ever get into a pinch and need to charge something. It's a very inefficient way of transferring power but it can be done. It's better to get 3/4 of the 3500mAh battery on the tablet to charge a 900mAh camera battery and not be left in the dark with no camera.
