hey guys, well if you don't know, I'm having to do work experiance here. now, if I miss alot of it I won't actually get my diploma at the end of the year >.< so facing the prospects of having no choice but to ride tomorrow. all the melted snow has since frozen over. with a bit of luck they'll have put some salt down. but that brings the question : what's the best way of getting rid of salt? obviously washing it. would a bucket of hot water and a sponge followed by a wipe down do? It's looking as if I don't really get a choice about it.

Hot water makes it worse ice cold water needed. Or so I've been told.

Yeah a bucket of hot water will get the corrosion started in no time, cold water is the way to go, and lots of it :)

Take off your fairings, Get the hose all over it, let it dry and wipe down all the metal work. Then repeat just incase something has been missed. Once the nicer weather is on us give it a good propper clean & oils. Id suggest after the winter wash your chain in parrafin just so your any thats fallen on your sprockets will evapourate when the chain has been reinstalled.

Might want to drop some cash on some acf50 and basically spray anything that's metal. Helps protect it from corrosion.

thanks guys. but got good news and bad news. good news is no salt! so no problem about the salt. Will still do a minor wash though. Bad news no salt! so was quite slippery. stayed rubber side down. Thanks so much for the tips will definatly try both things (in depth cleaning and ACF50) =D

thanks for all your brilliant tips!
