Sad news - Ike955

Have been informed via twitter (@Fudmottin) and via text (Trinith) that the organizer of the Deals Gap meetup, Ike, (Ike955) is down and gone. Apparently a tractor trailer went over the line and the trailer clipped him. I don't have further details.

In St. Louis, we lose about a motorcyclist a week in the spring and summer due to accidents and crashes. That usually doesn't bother me as I never knew any of them. But Ike was a friend, a fellow vlogger who was in on the early days of Livevideo. I just want to go home and go to bed now...

This is very sad news. I was really shocked when I first read Fudmottin's tweet, and couldn't believe it at first. I'm going to find it hard to ride the Dragon again in the future, unless tractor trailers and other larger trailers are banned from that road.

I haven't vlogged in a long time, though someday I will again. I talked to Ike a fair bit on lv and what I recall most about him was that he was helpful and he made me smile, if not outright laugh. The world is missing a good man, though heaven has gained one. My heart breaks for his family and friends; my thoughts and prayers are with you all.

What makes this tragedy even worse is that this could've been avoided if big trucks weren't allowed on that section of road, as they can't properly navigate the turns and stay on their own side of the road (based on what I've seen/read/heard - if anyone knows different I'm open to enlightenment). I would probobly say more but I'm still floored by what happened. RIP Ike ~ you'll be missed.

I sign the petition, many road in France are closed to heavy good vehicles for the same reason.
