my 1982 honda ct 185 "skipper". in the time I had it, I dropped it 3 times and crashed it three times (two slipping over in mud, and one by going straight into a curb at night due to having a crappy headlight). it had electrical problems up the waazoo and leaked heaps of oil, but it took me thousands of ks of highway riding (which it wasn't really designed to do) with relatively little problems for how much abuse it copped from me. I was planning on selling it and buying a used cb 400 twin of early 80s vintage (I'd seen a few go on ebay for the right money in the right condition), but then I came across a honda cx 500 on ebay which was titled "SWAP FOR TRAIL BIKE". I didn't really think he'd be interested in my beat up little bike, but I spoke to him and he was actually quite keen on the idea, so now I ride...

my 1981 honda cx 500 shadow. haven't dropped it OR crashed it yet, and its a perfect record I intend to try and keep. it had 90700km on it when I got it, and all I've done to the engine it change the fluids and filters and its taken me to 98618 and still going strong!
not too long before I clock it back over to zero, lol...
the things been a work in progress with replacing leaky suspension, fitting my top box (my bike is my only vehicle, so I have to have storage space) got the seat reupholstered, getting heated grips - but even though I'm doing all these things to it, the brilliant thing about it (or any of the old cx 500s) is that the engine is a tank. it'll just keep going and going and going and going and going and going and going....
