That's an interesting point. I haven't noticed any distortions, but maybe I'll edit a vid or two at 2704x1520 to see if I can tell any difference.
I think the default in Resolve for mismatched footage is either Fill or Crop, so it may not actually stretch or squish the footage - instead, it will have black bars either top/bottom or left/right.

Thanks for all your help, I've shot in 1080 @ 50fps and upscaled to 2560x1440 and managed to get the VP09 codec but took another at 1080 @ 50fps rendered at 2048 x 1440 and just got the AVC1 codec, also notice Itchy Boots gets VP09 and then sometimes only AVC1 !!!! doesn't seem to be any consistency from YouTube? But again thanks for your help :) Chris

1080 is 1920x1080 so going to 2048x1440 isn't upscaling enough to come out of HD and go to UHD. Good luck with experiments, but I'd just go with 2704x1520 upscale from 1080, that way you know you should reliably get the VP9 codec.

If you're seeing a bigger channel with the AVC1 codec, they probably didn't wait for full processing to complete before publishing... or they uploaded a 1080 video. If Itchy Boots is in a remote location where wifi is spotty or internet is slow, then she may have decided to just render in 1080 to get the video uploaded in a reasonable amount of time.

The other thing could be your own internet connection. YT tries to find the sweet spot between video quality and buffering speed, and if your internet is slow, it'll default to 360, 480, 720, or 1080, even if a higher-res version is available.

I have been rendering at 2.7k for years now, and only had an issue once or twice with a video not processed higher than 1080 [interestingly enough, it was a video about 2.7k, LOL].
