The wife's 2009 Ultra had a dead battery. No surprise, it was an old battery and we tend to just run them when we can in the winter and see what happens. Sometimes, what happens is you need to buy a new battery.
I decided against bothering with taking a video of the battery replacement. It was eventful.
First, she takes the battery to the H-D dealer to trade it in for a new one. She throws it on the counter and says that she needs a battery for HER Ultra. HD wants to promote women riders, but they acted like she was an alien. A woman repairing her own Ultra? The look on their face was one of shock. We're in our mid-50's too, so they're shocked at that. It would have made a great video, missed it.
Then, we tear into the battery and the previous owner just rat nested the wiring for all of the lights on this bike. It's a rolling light show and looks awesome until you see the innards. We have some work to do to get it right. I wasn't sure we'd have enough threads to get everything bolted to the post that needed a direct connection.
The camera wasn't running for any of it. After it was done, I thought about the missed opportunity. Lesson learned.
