So I don't watch a lot of live TV, apart from eastenders.

I'm living in the sticks so internet can sometimes be very hit and miss etc. Having TV as a back up is a gold mine...However, I live in the sticks so normal TV is also hit and miss.

Discovered my new house has a Sat Dish - I'm tight so don't want to pay for a contract so got a fee sat box...However, didn't work!

I thought I'd get some quotes as guessing its an outdated dish or whatever...Quoted £150 to get a £40 box running

A quick Google, most of the results seemed to say that the dish might not be lined up, some said, even an inch out can cause issues.

Solution - A hammer, whack it, left a bit and retune TV.... 186 channels!!!

Nope, not on freesat. To do with distribution rights. IE you could get some of the shows for free in Europe if Dave wasn't encrypted on Freesat... It is there but it is encrypted and can only get it via Sky.

Not strictly, just freesat has all the free channels available on it and just doesn't offer the encrypted ones. You could in theory just manually enter the frequencies for say Sky Movies as that dish is all but on the same alignment. But you still couldn't watch it without decryption

I tend to watch TDM and found that's not on free sat but is on free sky
