Quantity vs. Quality...

Hey-ho,

Man, I'm having a bum week :( ... nothing good caught on camera to put onto YouTube thus far ~_~ . For the past couple of years, I usually like to churn out one video a week... I've been fussing about this for the past few days and my wife says that quality should go above quantity.

I know this is a no-duh question :p , but how do you approach such things in the video blogging world :) ? Just curious, btw ;) .....

Insert colorful metaphor here & cheers >_> ~

If you're interesting, then the quality of the video won't matter as much because people will still be interested in you as a person. If you're not as interesting to people, then it'd probably be better to spend more time on the video and make it a better quality. That's my take on it. But in the end, it's whatever you feel like doing.

I think you need to have a schedule with a bit of quality.
If you can keep up one video a week, awesome!

My advice is if you have a lot of good stuff caught on camera in 2 or 3 days, just keep some for other weeks. Don't put all your good content in one shot.

I'm pretty sure it's not the best method but I just wanna share my thought on this ;). Hope it helps a bit...

I focused on quality instead of quantity.
The numbers do the talking here. 4 vlogs in 10 months and at least 3 of them aren't even interesting.

I'm trying to stay with quality, even though I don't know what that means for me atm :P Last vid I put out felt kinda boring for me, but it builds up for the next vid. And it was a short update where I told what I was planing :) so... that was not an answer (?)

I did watch that update... hope your rear end didn't end up hurting :p ;) ~

I am still trying to find my own Vlogging style, so i am not to fussed with the vids yet. Same for the editing i am always trying something new with it.
But if i was to answer the question i would say Quality then Quantity so both in the vid say 60% quality and 40% Quantity. What i try to do anyway.

I'm trying to find that Quality:Quantity ratio at the moment.

Some people can get away with not posting very much because their videos are amazing, look at YourPalsChrisAndAl, they've not posted anything in MONTHS and as soon as they're back they get thousands of views. Their videos are very good quality. Crass. But quality :D

I'm aiming for a weekly upload rate at the moment with the occasional bonus vlog.

YourPalsChrisAndAl,
i am not a fan but i do wonder how channels get loads of views and mine doesn't, alas i don't do this for subs, i do it because i enjoy riding!

if i get a little more popular then i may do something like a weekly rollout of vids but until then i shall remain a couple of vids every so often, no idea how many i have put up since i discovered the mic haha a fair few.

OK just counted 20 vids in 5 months haha!! Some talking some not but with a soundtrack!!

I try to keep to one a week... But man it's hard finding the time to keep up that schedule! I ride every day but only really film on my weekly group Sunday rides... So if I miss one of them or don't have time to edit I get way behind

Mmmm, I've learned the hard way and discovered that I should always have my camera rolling... never know when something good might happen or when someone might run into your side ~_~ .....

Yeah, I dropped it twice when I very first got it :p ... it was all at home while moving it ~_~ . One small dent luckily in the tank - barely noticeable ~o~ (thank goodness for frame sliders and extended end bars the second time @o@ !)... insurance would have covered it, but it would have been my fault ;) .

So, no camera needed in this case :D !~

(a large bike for the inexperienced beginner is a learning curve :p ;) ~)

I film every minute on the bike. I think it would be foolish of me to expect something interesting to happen every ride / day / week / whatever.
That's why I will never have a schedule.

If I like it, if I didn't fail to record it properly and if I can find the time to edit it - it will go up.

I have never not watched a vid from a sub because they havn't posted in a while and then they have - it actually makes me want to watch more.

People who post too regularly soon fall off my viewing list because:
a. I don't have the time
b. the content isn't engaging

You are like myself cranky, I watch all the Motovlogger vids I am subbed to, usually I sub who ever subs me back unless they have a blank channel, they took the time to watch my crud and sub me so I return the favour.
I am finding some of the smaller less known channels more entertaining ie DoIt WithDan even though he can't ride at the moment he is still putting content out weather it is on a lawn mower, shopping kart anything with a way of self propulsion he will Vlog on it hehe
The complete turn around is C2W he is loosing his edge in his solo Vlogs, the dual ones are great though! Best so far was him taking Yummie Pillion!
