Anyways, the reason gas prices are so low is because the U.S. began outproducing Saudi Arabia as the #1 oil producer in the world and the Saudis weren't going to have any of that . It cost more to produce oil in the U.S. than it does in Saudi Arabia (a little over two times)... and with gas prices so high, Saudi Arabia decided to have a price war with the U.S. By glutting the market with oil, Saudi Arabia has brought oil below the point where it is profitable for the U.S. to produce it. So, Saudi Arabia remains the #1 oil producer with all of the jobs that goes along with it while the U.S. turns off their oil wells because the oil producers are beginning to loose money. Saudi Arabia felt like it could take a glancing blow with prices in order to keep the status quo.
On top of that, the Saudis realize that oil won't last forever, so there is no need in keeping prices high. In addition, with high gas prices, more fuel efficient, flex fuel and alternate fueled vehicles have been driving demand down for oil... so by lowering the price, it makes those expensive vehicles look less attractive to buy, thereby keeping the oil flowing.
One last thing is that low oil prices are hurting some of Saudi Arabia's foes (Russia, Syria, etc.), which the Saudis like .
It all political, really and I can really care less ... all I care about are the lower prices 
(give me premium, please !)! Also, we have you beat on gas prices - we're below $1.90 here

As far as vlogging goes, I keep everything until I have enough to put something good together with. Why feel rushed on uploading on the same day
