I know at least one of you I sub to has used the Premiere option. I am curious on all that have used it as to what your experience has been?

I can see it as a good option ou f used sparingly. Unfortunately it is not compatible with my normal publishing/traffic pattern as I am (ahem) at work when a video goes live. That rules out a lot of interaction.

However, I do have a day coming up that I will be at the house so I figure that would be a great time to try it out.

Unless you're a really really large channel I dont see it as very constructive.
Smaller channels doing it seem to just have the creator in the chat hyping themselves up. Another thing I noticed is that the comments section is slimmer because of this.

Have you tried using it just to see what happens?

No but I think I'll try i when I have an extra video to post outside of my schedule. My videos go out at 8:30am EST every Tuesday now so I'm just getting settled into work at the time

I used it for my final Sunny Bear vid, and then got caught up doing other stuff so wasn't able to do the live chat properly.
I'll not bother with it I don't think as I also schedule my uploads and it isn't often I am able to watch other channels vids when they go live either. It is cool having the live chat though.

I used it just to see how it worked.
Did nothing for me.

It’s also pissing me off with how many people are using it. I agree it’s good if your a large channel and want to build some hype about something new.

I think most small channels will try it then give up on it when they realise how much of a pain in the butt it is for not much in the way of benefit.

@HippoDrone I am not sure how much more work it is other than being present live to chat vs. answering posts after publishing?

It reminds me of the group livestreams where everyone is going round robin on chatting for hours on camera. If lucky, someone is watching the comments and replying.

You have done both now so which was really more work overall?

I go live with my videos at 0630 am, I generally am not awake then if a day off or about to go to bed if on nights. As a small channel I tend to only get around 5 views in the first 15min of posting whatever time I post, of those I might get one or two that may interact in the comments at most. It isn't currently worth my time, or me altering my schedule to go live when I would be awake and able to watch along with the other viewers.

A livestream is very different, I would be at my PC during that so it is no extra work. I don't really do many of them though :)

I think I understand what you are getting at. It is just the schedule then.

For example, if you wanted to participate in a live stream not compatible with work schedule then that might be a problem. However, since the live stream is on another channel then it does not directly affect your channel's traffic.

Is that close?

I have never done my own live stream, only ones that I have been invited into. Which generally means I do not have "my audience" watching, just the hosts. My channel currently would not really get any benefit from alive stream. I think the only video I have posted recently that would have maybe had enough interest to do the premier would have been my first Insta360 One X video as the tech and mounting etc seemed to generate a bit of interest.
If my videos were getting the amount of views that one has I'd maybe consider the premier feature, but my normal content is not popular enough to do that! :)

I tried it for the first time on my last video. I too was at "work" but my office is pretty slack. Since I have been gone from vlogging for a while and just getting back into it, my room had me and one of my buddies who got the alert and he came in the room.

So, I think if you have the time, why not. To me, it is just another thing for people to be able to connect with you as a vlogger. I mean most videos are only 10ish minutes long at the most I would think.

If any of the "friends" I sub to are on and I'm near my comp, I would watch them.

Tried it once, probably won't use it again, or perhaps very rarely ever will use it, ever.

Apart from the giving subs a heads up of the next upcoming video, the live chat function doesn't seem useful unless you really plan to be around when the video goes live.. Which is not what I do.

I'm pretty sure for some it is super awesome fantastic great feature, but for me, it's not impacting me so that's my two cents on this.

Eh not seeing the benefit if you don't have enough of a big channel where at least a couple dozen viewers might gather. Seems to be the general consensus in the thread?

I am not sure there is a consensus since I was just soliciting experience.

I am a bit surprised with the feedback from some folks with sub counts that I would not define as being "small" channels.

I guess it comes down to channel and subscriber dynamics then. I'ma give it a try one day and see what happens may be :)
