I use a Shure SM11-CN as a helmet mic, and either a Shure WH20XLR or a little Sennheiser lav mic in a dead cat (wind sock) for external. Works pretty good for me.
Best tip for reducing wind noise is to stick a mic in a low pressure / turbulance area-- I have my external clipped to the bottom of my jacket near the small of my back-- works great for picking up exhaust notes.
I don't have a photo so I'll just screen-shot it off the video. Front and center on the chin bar, previously velcro but current is wire tied, wrapped with microphone foam or sponge.
