And by "bad", I mean most gnarly, rad, [insert 80s slang for good here] timeline pic!

I'll start:

This is a 26m Destination Ride Video I completed yesterday... and it's one of my most complicated ones yet! I've had projects with more A/V tracks, and probably more cuts and overlays, but those videos weren't nearly as long.

I like to keep mine as simple as possible, but will see what my next vid looks like after the weekend! :)

I wish I could say I like to keep them simple, but I'm trying a lot of different things and trying to amp up production quality... so they end up quite complicated. At least I don't need as many text overlays to correct myself or put in missing information like I used to :D

It rarely gets this busy for me. The last poker run video I did had some effects and such, so that made me use more tracks, but I rarely reach to the level of using even 5+5 tracks.

@Drakhen99 I use a freeware software called Kdenlive. It's multiplatform, but I do majority of my editing on Linux, because I have an old weak pc :)

Gotcha. When you upgrade your PC, you can try out Resolve... it's a resource HOG but I love it anyway, and they've gotten it to run on a few flavors of Linux.

Interesting. Most of my videos are much simpler than that timeline wise, like this:

I've had a few which got crazy complicated, I'll try to go back and get pics of one.

Hmm ok I'll play along when I get home later and see what I've got. Most of the time I'm not using more than 3 or 4 tracks

OMG I hardly have any complicated stuff ... my weak editing imagination and lack of knowledge is clearly obvious LOL
I just can't help myself. I keep trying new things, filming in new ways, adding more to my vids... and really, having a set folder full of assets like stock images, sound effects, music, well it makes it go WAY faster.

I definitely try to keep mine simple. I've been using OpenShot for years, as it had the cleanest interface I found, back when I was fully Linux based. Also pretty easy on the hardware.
Having said that, now I'm back on Windows, I'm planning to transition to Davinci Resolve as it has a lot of stuff built in that's a pain to do on OpenShot. I've already shoved in another 16Gb ram in preparation

I have tried to go gnarly with Davinci, but it doesn't work with my brain.
So instead i have done gnarly edits in sections. render those.
And edit the renderparts together to make the final edit....

Probably more work, but it keeps it logical in Davinci for my brain at least.

Ps. i have seen your comment on my video, but i can't seem to "see" it or react to it. Sorry.

I started out using OpenShot and I liked it, but half a year ago I switched to DaVinci and I am so glad I did. So much better and more capable, and my videos got better because of the switch.

Yeah Openshot has been great, but I'm starting to out grow it with some of the stuff I want to do. And it was an excuse to go to 32Gb in the PC as well

32GB RAM in my opinion is a minimum amount of RAM for Davinci Resolve. I'm sort of kicking myself for not optioning 64GB in my laptop... I bump up against the maximum amount it'll use fairly regulary.

My last edit was pretty simple, 2 cameras on bike, then single camera off bike and back to 2 cameras on bike for the close out:
