Police In Uk Happy With Helmet Cams

BBC report just now highlighting dashcams and helmet cams as good and they will use footage as evidence to prosecute bad driving.

That includes your own.

Does help for insurance claims too.

Good to see recognition

Wasn't thinking of that scenario but good point. More that a. they may use stuff on your channel more which could be good or bad b. the insurance companies may recognise footage better as corroborative evidence and c. so may the police if sent to them

In Russia, I think it's mandatory that everyone has a dash cam for insurance purposes... that's why we always get so many great crazy driving scenes coming out of Russia on YouTube :D . Also, remember that astroid that blew up over that one city in Russia :o ?... dash cam ;) .

I think it depends on how they use it. If you've been involved in an accident, due to the nature of litigation and laying blame and offences committed, I can see them seizing the camera. If they pull you and start trying to make you hand over footage then it's a different matter as it could end up as they want the footage to see if they can find an offence you may have committed. If that becomes the case then I'll get a hidden bulletcam if I want to volunteer evidence, and just use my Drift in tagging mode for general riding and normal mode purely for a vlog, then stop and turn it off/put it back to tag mode.

It is something that would never fly in the states. It's your property and they can't seize it. I have been pulled over twice with a cam in my car, and the officer never said a thing. If they did I would simply state it is for my own protection. Both times I was pulled over in my grand marquis, so they couldn't say I was using the camera to capture my hooning.
