same thing happened to me, and it turned out that it was the jet, and no one around me understood honda carburetors.....So I brought it back to the dealer 80 miles away they fixed it in 45 minutes..

Got a text from the guy saying the bike was being fixed and I still had first offer. Love the bike itself, but couldn't take on a project. So had to say no. Feeling glum. It felt so right and so nice just sitting on it - pity it wouldn't effing go anywhere!

What a shame...The older ones are an 'Adventure'...and they force you to meet total strangers...Well whenu have to walk to the nearest Farm to get help.
Dont discount an oldie, just accept that their is allways work that will need to be done.(less Carbon foot-print too)
