Old Vloggers Vs New Vloggers

Funny I feel the same way. When I first started watching Motovlogging, a really popular guy who had like 10,000 subs at the time was my favorite. But it seems as I've started doing it myself I prefer the new lower sub guys.

I've just been through my 25 ish motovlogger subscriptions and the ones I always click on first are new vloggers too.

When do you become an Old Motovlogger?

I've been doing it for a year now. It started as fun, but now it's an addiction. I haven't eaten for days and I sold my Girlfriend to buy more memory sticks.

When you give up your real job in the belief you can make a living off youtube ;)

I do think new vloggers over due the whole give away thing. I wouldnt do a giveaway unless i reach atleast 1 million views in a video ahaha

Maybe, but with only 5k subscribers I did a little give away and so far have nearly 600 people entering the competition. They can be a fun way to interact with your subscribers.

So if we use roubd figures and say 10% will enter, I'd get about a dozen enter any comp I started :)

I think there's a difference in doing something for your subs and doing something to get subs.

Giving away a camera will get you quite a few, no point if they never return and your views return to previous levels.

I would prefer to look at things like that as doing something FOR my subs. Of course I'm a long way off having enough to do any competition other than maybe raffling off the earplugs used in any given video...

But I would always prefer to think that people subscribed because they want to see the videos I create. Not because I might give something away!

I agree, I did make it a clause that you had to be a subscriber to win, the idea being not to get more subs but to limit it to people that were subbed and interested in the channel not just flybys after a freebie. So far I may have got an extra 30 subs from the comp. I don't think sub to win etc is a good plan as like others have said you just end up with dead subscribers.

But I'll say it again, it is fun :)

And I'm sure it's pretty satisfying when you see how many actively engaging subs you've got.

I have a music channel (acoustic covers, original songs etc..) with 2.5k subs. But videos tend to plateau at about 300 views. (Except for the odd one that catches on. One has 160,000+ views).

Whereas my motovlogging channel has 350 subs and I get around 200-300 views per video! So despite the higher numbers, I get so much more joy out of the Motovlogging stuff!

Similar here, 130 subs and my 50 vids have around 5000 views, so an average of 100 per video, quite happy with that and enjoying having the camera. Win win.

Its all really about having fun with your videos. Both the film and the editing process. Trying to be different I think is part of the fun, even if we don't always succeed.
