Oh Look, Another New Motovlogger. Or Is It?

Hey, what's up everyone?

Now I promise the title isn't clickbait.... maybe a bit.... but not really.

On a serious note though, I'm not a motovlogger (yet).

A little background on me:

I'm a young college kid from northern Virginia in the USA (DMV Hype!). I just recently started my YouTube channel and have it centered around vlogging. I hit a bit of a rough unemployment patch during summer and had to survive off my savings, so my plans for getting decent filming equipment and a bike have been pushed back to the spring of next year.

I'm currently a Computer Science major, but switching to Business Administration Soon™. I'm also taking a few online courses from various sources and launching my own Social Media and Internet Marketing business.

As far as my interest in motorcycles and motovlogging goes, I've had multiple family members and friends who used to ride, as well as a friend from high school who currently does. I've always been interested in riding, but never thought to get my own bike until a few months ago where I came across the motovlogging niche by pure chance. Since I had planned on vlogging on my channel anyways, I figured it would be a worthwhile thing to get into. So far I've come to a very pleasant realization at how tight knit and friendly this community is towards each other as a whole. I still haven't completely set myself on a starter bike, but due to some suggestions from friends and family, as well as personal research both here on the forums and across YouTube I think I'm going to start on a used 300. Leaning towards getting a Ninja 300 or R3, but gotta take some time and go and sit on a few and see in person if I really like them.

Overall, I'm excited to get started as soon as I'm able to and hope to make many new friends as time progresses. Thanks for reading and hope you all have a good day/night!

P.S.: The Defcon community demands I post a Sun Tzu quote whenever introducing myself so....
"Know your enemy and know yourself and you can fight a hundred battles without disaster." -Sun Wu(Tzu) "Ping-fa"(The Art of War)

Welcome.

Also lean to ride before you attempt to motovlog.
Yeah, that's a definite for me. Until I am accustomed to being hyper vigilant of my surroundings I don't want anything taking away my focus, especially since it feels like 90% of the drivers around here should NOT be licensed with how they act on the road. i.e. people barely signaling/not signaling before they merge lanes or turn, on their phone while driving, being absolute idiots and failing to maneuver in the simplest of ways.

For instance, here's a story from just a few days ago. My dad and his friend were driving up 28 the other day and had a guy on a sportsbike a few cars ahead of them. The light had just turned green and he took off, not hammering through gears or anything, but got a bit of the twist of the wrist. A car from the opposite side went to make a U-turn and a another car went to make a right turn on red. I can't remember which order the cars hit him in, but he ended up flying many yards ahead of his bike spinning like a pinwheel. I pray to god he wasn't killed but the chances are slim from how they described it. In their words, "It's not like we don't want to ride or don't enjoy it, it's idiots like that around here that scare us."

Welcome to the group. Seeing a horrible accident is always an opening experience, and one that can be a constant reminder of how dangerous this activity is. You may hear people say things like 'there are two kinds of riders, those who've crashed and those who haven't', but that doesn't mean anything. There are just those with experience, and those who have learned from them. Be the latter.

Take a BRC if possible too, but don't rush into anything up till you're ready. How things happen for your. Looking forward to your future channel.
