Scribbles

Wannabie Member
Hey guys and girls, I'm Scribbles from auld bonnie Scotland! I stay just 10 mins from the capital Edinburgh and I'm a noobie rider :D

Just bought my first bike at the end of September (Worst timing ever) and it's straight of the showroom floor, Honda CBR 125R (2013).
I wanted to start small and get used to being on a bike and develop my skills as a rider from there, Enjoying every minuet of it so far!!

As for the vlogging aspect, that will be happening within the next few weeks, Depending on weather :)

Look forward to getting to know you guys.

My pride and joy!!

Welcome to the forum :)

Well done on on getting a bike. You on a full licence or CBT?

I think this time of the year is actually the best time to learn about riding etc. There really is no skill in riding full throttle, it's about the control. The crap weather forces you to learn those skills.

Welcome to the forum once again. I presume we will be seeing some videos shortly?

Just on my CBT at the moment, will be going for my full license in the next year or 2 and a bigger bike as well once i have the basics down to a T.

As for the time of year, i can see you're point but i would have like to learn a little more in better conditions but it's Scotland, What do you expect.
Currently getting the hang of counter steering, it's scary stuff

And thanks for the warm welcome :D

a Scot ye say! .. well well .. I claim no direct link but my Gran was a McIver before marriage (part of the turncoats back in the day i think  )

and dont be scared with the counter steering... most riders do it quite a bit anyway on a normal ride and without realising it .. its only when you start actually trying the moves that it seems weird .. plus you can actually do the 'counter steer' move .. with your opposite hand .. no i dont mean cross your arms! thats dangerous (ask me how i know :| ) .. but without actually turning the bars .. you can still apply pressure with your say your right fingers on the right side of the bars .. but still get the left side effects .. as if you had pushed slightly with your left hand !!

but dont try that till you are sorted out with standard counter steering eh! :D

this is a reasonable video for explaining it... but there are LOADS more

ive got a full licence in Australia .. but im still only a '4 year novice' when it comes to roadbikes .. so dont think im the go to guy!! :o

had a few moments last few years with counter steering... i would do it anyway without thinking... but a few times when i was practicing in the twisty bits and THINKING/CONCENTRATING hard on 'push here to go there' .. i "over thinked" it and nearly hugged a few ditches and trees... not at speed .. but enough to rattle my underpants! ... so now .. i try to be AWARE of what im doing with the bars .. but not make it so much of my thoughts that it distracts me from the business of actually riding the bike!

just some thoughts from a sassenach!

Cheers! .. make videos! .. have fun!

ooer... edit and P.s. .. i dont know how or from who .. but i've got a Musselburgh & FisherRow token on the desk too! .. a red 'bakelite' one i think... not worth bugger all... but interesting .. just i noticed you from Musselburgh in your info ! .. 8-)

Haha, Thats awesome!! I plan on making a vid today, it will mostly be testing my setup though,i have no topics that come to mind :D thanks for the advice and the video.

Just go with the flow bro!!.... I'm never organised enough to have topics on a notepad yet.... I just remember random stuff I wanted to talk about ... And try to edit it into some kind of sense later  .... Even if you muff a sentence .... Just pause a few seconds and start again ... Keep your stuff ups though .... Later you can put together a blooper vid to make the subs love ya more!
