Off Season Content?

Where's my coffee?
So, this was a thought I had while helping out a co-worker yesterday with his first bike. We didn't video it, but it was myself and another experienced co-worker who took this kid under our wings to help him learn to ride safely and properly.

It's Spring-ish here in Wisconsin. Winter is a completely off season for riding up here. Bikes are stored, and we long for the clean roads and nice days. But without riding for several months, what do you do for content to keep the channel alive?

I've thought about live streams and discussions, similar to what I do for a couple of other hobby related channels. Group live podcasts, things like that. But not sure how that would work with the motorcycle based stuff. I've also thought about doing mod and maintenance videos. But honestly, I'm good mechanically, but I'm positive there are many others who are better than myself.

What else do you guys who have a winter season do for content?

I try and bank some videos from the warmer months, but they have to be videos of a visit, or a trackday or similar so that the date they are posted is less important. I also do maintenance videos or upgrades, how to fit an exhaust type things, I am rubbish with spanners on bikes, but people seem to enjoy them, either to take the mickey out of me doing it wrong, or just to see how to/how not to do stuff.

Content banking is not a bad idea at all. The maintenance work, well, most of mine would just be me looking for that bloody 10mm! Hmm, maybe that's the content? The search for the elusive 10mm! Like a full wild nature hunt kinda thing. lol!

Last year I banked a lot of videos for the winter, in fact I'm still working my way through them even now!

I plan to do the same this year, I'll film a ton of motovlogs but still only put out one per week and save a lot for next winter. It worked very well and made things stress free.

I think that is probably the best solution.

Dude, every one of MM's banked videos gets a comment from someone saying, "Hey, thanks for the nice footage - it's winter here in XYZ and I can't stand looking at the snow any more!"

I banked a few videos, but I generally get out at least once a week on my bike, so I can record year-round. I also do a 2x/week vid schedule, so I burn through footage at an alarming rate.

Now that it's getting warmer, I've got a lot more videos to record. Methinks I'll need more storage to bank them ;)
