Noob Question - How To Get Subs?

teroff

From Russian With Love
Hello falks.
I know, this question probably has been already answered but I didn't find the answer on it.

How to get first subs? Lets say first 100/200/500 subs? I know, the general answer would be
- Be yourself, do great job and people will find you. Unfortunately the first 500 subs is more difficult to get rather then others. I have a second channel in Russian and after I gained 500 subs the community has started growing by it's own. But before that it was kind of hard to find a sub.

What would you recommend? Now, after being on Youtube for 1 month and 4 videos I only have 30 subs. Which is kind of good from the one hand, but from the other....

So, what would you recommend? Any tips?

P.S.
I know there is no shortcut for it

To be honest, I don't really know either. The saying "A watched pot never boils" comes to mind. Just ignore the views and subs, continue to make your videos (and have fun doing it), use appropriate tags, sooner than you realize it you'll be having the views and subs.

If there is a Motovlogging community in your area you can try a meet-up or collaboration to get yourself more known in YT. Some would say "follow me and I'll follow you back", that probably works too.

Motovlogging isn't my forte, I do it due to request from some of the viewers, I do other stuff apart from motovlogging, but all are motorcycle/riding related. So maybe some of the views and subs are from that, so far my own motovlogging videos are on average about 1k views, I don't think that's a lot, but I don't mind it.

Be active on this forum and other social media. Subscribe to other smaller channels that you like and comment on videos, especially other channels with less than 500 subs. People will check out your channel and the subs will come. If you're just doing it for the subs, you'll soon get dejected. Do it because you like it and treat the subs as an added bonus.

The first few 100 is deffinitly the hardest until it develops its own momentum, I think having a facebook page would help also trying to get to events anything bike related and do a video including it, That way when people youtube search that event you might grabs some views which turn into subs that way.....

Hey man, that's a sub a day...right? So just keep going and wait for that momentum. Don't think of your older video's as lost either...when you gain subs that like your content they will watch the older video's too!

Its all done to content and luck I'm afraid. But the POV video scene is flooded now a days with 1000s of people doing the biker vlogs etc.

Be good at what you do (make great videos) and interact with the community (not just on here, interact with other motovloggers on Twitter, YouTube, BookFace etc).

Do it for yourself, if you're doing it for subs and views (which are nice, don't get me wrong), you're going to give up if you don't reach your personal targets.

I don't have that many subs or views, but I get a nice level of interactions in the comments for each video which suits me nicely.

I recently did the Facebook thing, but even since before, I've had a steady stream of new subs for the last 5 months, although not the same percentage increase in views. Still, it's all good fun!

I found to get my first 100, I did a lot of social networking. Commenting on videos, engaging other vloggers. Making a presence on FB, Twitter and GPlus are all essential if you don't want to rely on the search engine discovery.

As you start getting this activity you become relevant to similar videos.

Content, content and more content. Ask yourself why you subscribe to certain channels. I sub because of interesting, funny and random content that keeps me coming back for more.

No idea...and I've got 95 subs. It seems liked at first it came slow then sped up once I got to 50 then it stalled out as I approached 100. Best thing for me is I like the interaction I get from comments, I seem to enjoy that much more than my sub count.

You don't want subs, you want views!

I've gained 150 subs very quickly (relatively) up to 270 now. My views haven't gone up dramatically though, maybe 30%-50% extra vs more than doubling my number of subs.

Although my randoms seem to do remarkably better than other vids. Maybe that's what the subs are arriving for :)

Get a YouTube channel with over 100,000 subscribers to give you a mention! It worked for me! :D

Seriously though, create interesting content with good audio and visuals, no long gaps of silence and then you are on your way. The next step is network, network, network. :)

And do not confuse networking with spamming. Networking does not mean posting links all over the place, but getting other motovloggers to know you by commenting on their videos and getting stuck right into social networking sites, such as the motovlogging groups and other vlogger's pages on Facebook and this site. This site is where I made my first motovlogging friends back in 2012. :)

Some would say "follow me and I'll follow you back", that probably works too..
If you want empty subs or people telling you to fuck off. . Follow this advice.

Sub for sub looks good, but its pointless. You want people watching your videos because they enjoy it. I dont enjoy chased on two wheels vids, So i dont sub to him, Does that make him shitty? no.. he has a huge following. Its about personal preference.

Networking is about the best way to make a name. Comment, Become friends, Hangout with other vloggers. soon you will start getting traction.
30 in 30days isnt a bad number. Ive been at it for 14months? only have about 150subs.

Dont beg for shout outs either. Actually, dont beg for anything.

100% agree mate. I have to laugh at the people who post "sub for a sub" or ask for a shoutout.
Those are the people that just do not get it and are destined for failure.

Some people just have to accept that they suck at certain things. For me, it's my voice, zero musical talent, a girl's bike (allegedly - feckers) and a complete lack of personality. Understanding that allows me to just accept myself and not worry about fame, fortune or latent talent.

You sold the girls' bike.

I think your voice is what you think. I find your intonation good for narrative, quite welcoming and clear diction.

If I accepted everything I sucked at I'd be a very unhappy chap!

I'm not naturally good at anything so I have to work at it :p

Just make the videos I say! And when folks comment on them, interact (That's one of the biggest reasons we do it, after all!) and maybe if they suggest certain things to you, take some of them on board. They are your audience after all! I'm not saying change everything because somebody criticised you, strongest advice so far is just to be yourself, but if somebody says "Dayummm Sunnn! That shizz you did with the X-Y-Z was GREAT. Do more of that..." Then if it fits, put more in.

As an example, I used to cut out my angry rants because I thought they were just negative and unentertaining. Then several people commented on a video where I'd left a bit of angry ranting in saying that they enjoyed it. So instead of cutting it out in future, I whole-heartedly leave it in! I didn't have to change my character or force any situations. Just edit the footage that I had differently.

Also I agree with the feelings on sub-for-sub and shoutout-for-shoutout 'deals'. I've never done it and wouldn't consider it. And my numbers are growing because, hopefully, people are enjoying the videos.

NB. I'm not saying that I haven't benefitted quite substantially from a couple of shoutouts that I have received (The Gentleman Biker, The infamous Biker, The Swiss Motard and Arizona RE, I thank you). But I didn't ask for them or strike any deals to get them though I am extremely grateful to those kind fellows who felt compelled to mention me. Cheers chaps!

Overall, enjoy the process. Otherwise there is quite simply no point! If you're enjoying your creating, enjoyment is contagious and others will jump on board to share in your channel!
