It's true, and I don't think you can blame me :P There're so many vloggers nowadays that I wanted to find a site like this to try and find subscribers. Don't hate! Check out my videos if you so wish (http://www.youtube.com/user/ionizingme?feature=mhee) and with a bit of luck you'll enjoy them.

Just to add some meat to the topic: I currently ride a 2008 Kawasaki Ninja 250R (like most young bikers) and currently can't decide on my next purchase being a CBR600RR, a ZX6R, or a Triumph Bonneville (big difference with that one, I know) and I wondered who has experience of any of these bikes, maybe all 3? I'm not one of those morons who goes around the blogsphere posting things like "hey mannn, I'm a new rider and wanna get a 600cc sports bike but I'm worried it'll be too powerful. I ride a 50cc scooter atm is it much different mannnnn?" nah screw that, I've been on bikes around 5 years now and have about 22,000 miles under my belt. I've ridden both the CBR and the ZX before, but never for more than a test run. In terms of usability, I've heard the CBR is an absolute nutter and ABS on the more modern (but more expensive) versions is nearly a must? I have to admit I didn't find the 06 model too bad, but with the ZX I generally found that I was flying by the seat of my pants... but not in a bad way. With time to get used to the bike, I think I'd really, really enjoy it.

Thoughts? Comments? Facepalms? Thanks for your opinions :D

Slightly off topic I know but what's the Ninja 250 like? One of my next bike choices!

On topic, I THINK Friz rides a CBR600 so maybe he could provide an insight to what that's like!

22,000 miles in 5 years? Sounds like a fair weather biker to me...

Hello, by the way.

I ride a 2009 ZX-6r and my brother has a 2006 CBR600rr which I still ride alot. He doesn't so someone has to right?

The Cbr has more low end punch. Only a little bit mind you. So you get up to speed slightly barely kinda faster. But by the time your up to speed your in the rpm range to get wild so you have to watch close to keep from getting in trouble.

My zx does fine even at low speeds it's easy to get going too fast. In fact I can release the clutch with no throttle and get moving at about 6mph. Cbr you can't do that you'll stall out.

Cbr has slightly more aggressive ergos. Zx seems a bit more comfy.

I'm at work on the iPhone so more in depth details here in a few hours!

I fell in love with the ninjette the second I sat on her. For a small capacity entry sportsbike, you couldn't really ask for anything more (except maybe a fuel gauge rather than just a low-fuel indicator!) They feel like a full sized bike, nice bit of power to them without being intimidating. Won't lie, the stock tyres are a bit pants but they do the job well enough I guess. Trade them out asap if you can afford too, no sweat if you can't. I far prefer the power delivery compared to the CBR250 (which looks crap too, ninja beats it hands down on aesthetics) and although the Hyosung might look a bit more badass, it's heavy, slow and clunky and TACKY in comparison. Can't go wrong with the ninjette imo :)

I won't lie, it's not the highest of mileages, I know. I used my old scooter and 125cc for commuting and because at the time I was in education 6 days a week (don't ask, horrible school ha) I barely got any time to go riding. After I left I went straight into working in a nursing home and found myself in a longterm relationship... working in excess of 55 hours a week and juggling the ex killed a lot of time I had to go riding. Been far better this year as I'm at uni (although I wasn't allowed to keep my bike in halls) now, and I've got lots of stuff planned for this currently very rainy summer... Got a charity rideout on the 14th which is about 780 miles away from me round trip, roadtripping all around the UK to see friends/family, hoping to make it into a month long tour, and with a bit of luck, riding to Amsterdam with a mate at the end of August. Fed up of not getting the most out of my baby!

Glad you have the two to compare to OKMotor :) what you've said seems to correlate with what most people have told me, I am very much leaning towards the ZX tbh. Cheaper on the insurance too!

That's purely opinion! :D

I bought the CBR (2 days ago) Because its slightly bigger, and more comfy over long distance. I found the CBR is faster accelerating than the ninja, but lacks at the top end.

I preferred the look of the Honda personally. I like the 'layered' look of the CBR range :)

Ok I'm home.

Mole: I think the cbr250 is modelled more after the VFR1200 than a CBR6 or 1k. And i dunno that i really like that look, but to each their own right?

Back to the point: CBR V. ZX

Now this is a little off but still good to keep in mind: accidents happen, and most zx6r's have the side exhaust pipe while the CBR has undertail exhaust. If you were to go down for whatever reason and that pipe gets hit.....bad. Especially if your like me with a $750 akrapovic pipe or other high dollar aftermarket.

A positive about the zx is if you get a used from a few years ago you get a 636cc engine versus a 599cc.

Every tom dick and harry has a CBR (at least where i live)

A ninja is A FREAKING NINJA!!!!!!!! HIYA!!!!

Lastly: Kawasaki Green, nuff said imo :D

I think im actually gonna steal the CBR and make a comparison video this weekend. If I do ill throw it up here!

Haa opps put my foot in it there :P I don't think the CBR looks terrible, but I agree that it looks more like a VRF. Looking at the pictures again, it's not the bodywork I dislike I don't think, it's the exhaust design for me =/ I just love the kwacker styling and the colour is so iconic :) I'm not convinced I agree with you on the faster acceleration but I may be wrong. I also prefer parallel twins than single cylinders (which I seem to remember the CBR is? :s )

But yeah, back to topic: OKMotor; I hadn't thought about the exhaust situation, but that's a really, really valid point. I quite like the sound of the slightly larger capacity too. As much as I love the reliability and performance of CBRs in general, you're right however, that they're very common. ZX is looking more and more likely :P

DO IT BRO!!! We can totally be brothers of the Z! lolol :ugeek:

Now seriously though, the dealership that I go on dinner rides with all the time is a Triumph dealer and there are a bunch of people who have bonnies (bonneville). Mind you they are all old, wrickled, retired, men. Bonnies are pretty cool if you want a retro look for around town but their performance is lacking at higher speeds (so i hear...dont hate), they are just basic run of the mill bikes that look retro and have a cool history and name. So dont expect too many Youtube views simply because your on a bonnie.

I'm not going to tell you what to get, thats your choicde and you shouldnt let ANYONE choose for you or pressure you. But for me personally, ZX-6r all the way. Good luck and let me know when you make a purchase!

btw, on my way to youtube to sub!

Woo, thanks both of you :D And the more I look at it OKM, the more appealing the ZX looks. £3750 for an '07 model with 6100 miles on the clock, cannot sniff at that, insurance is cheaper than CBR too. Ninja all the way :D
