Next bike advice

Well you've got me torn, on one hand you get all the bike for half the price in the zx6... On the other hand what I always say is get what you want and don't compromise. If you want a gsxr 750 why are you even looking at other bikes?

This is a good question. Originally I was just checking what was available locally but after missing out on a couple of 750s because of time restrictions I opened up the scope a little more. Now the £1500 off list price for a new 600 is an eye catcher and looks the same as the 750. It's also been a few years since I've ridden a real bike (read sometime not 125cc) so it feels like the 600 is my first port of call rather than the 750.

The bike is about 9 months old and I've done 13k, 4 services, change set of tyres(never buy Bridgestone bt21), just change chain and sprockets and about a month ago orwel replace a wheel bearing under warranty... So I'm slowly becoming laterider, spend soo much that I have to keep my bike for the next decade...

Damn lol I moan about my CBR already having 1,400 miles

Fair enough bro! .... Always hard to tell who has done what on forums eh!! ... All good!

... Have you tested a MT09 though? .... It scratches itches you don't even know you have!!! ... Lmao!

No not yet, to be honest I've been avoiding it because I know I'll have to get one. I admit that it's a bike which suits me and it has an attitude which is hard to say no to. I've been watching Shogun09R1 and his missus enjoy their new one and I've watched your test ride too. What I would really love is if Yamaha put that engine into a sport bike. I would pre-order that bad boy without any hesitation.

Lol yeah true .... If you ride the 09 ... You'll be wheely-ing down the street yelling 'I don't care there's no faaaaaaaaaaairinnnnnnnnnngs!!!' :D

The bike has been chosen and paid for. It's being delivered probably next week now. There will be a reveal video once it lands for which I'll probably wait for a nice sunny day and do a seaside photo shoot. I feel like a kid at Christmas.

:(;) ... Not a 09 then ... 5-9 week waiting time for those!! ..

Ah well ... Love and enjoy it when your new missile arrives bro!! ... Photoshoot is a must!!

Im too late to this party, but I loved my gsxr750. 80,000km of abuse without missing a beat. Comfortable and fast enough.
The MT-09 is more than 15hp less than an old 750 and 15kg heavier. You know why it wheelies so much... because of its gearing. It has a top speed of 220kph. Gear a gsxr750 to top out at 220 and you have a stunt bike. If its just the naked style you like, then fair enough.

Personally on the MT09 ... It's the SOUND!!!! That gets me with these modern injected triples..... Not as farty as a v-twin.... Not as screaming as a inline 4 .... It's musical to my ear....

.. Plus much more than half an hour on a super sport and my lower back & knees want to divorce the rest of me!!

I'm not a cruiser type person.. But I prefer a more upright position..... And it's like caravan owners you know.... I love the MT09 so EVERYONE should love it!! ;)

And the amount of times I actually HAVE the empty road chance to hit 220 .... It will be enough... I've done over 270km/h on a street when I was young, immortal but mainly stupid!! ... It was one of the first 70 zones in Australia ... So I had it part right  ... ..... Plus I am old now and just want to hoon around sedately ... If that makes sense!

...... However ... I shall shush ... Cos now I have jacked the thread again!! ... But I'll leave this up anyway! :p
(Several of the mates have gsxr's of various cc's .... And I appreciate the attraction of them and all super sports .... I'm just not flexible enough to enjoy the riding position.... And too lazy to get flexible enough!!);)

Well im in the same boat. I had the 750 from 2003 till 2007. I had a hayabusa to go fast before that (290 two-up is surprisingly comfortable). Now i have an adventure bike because im past doing any speed with 3 digits, its upright and fun.

I guess we'll wait and see what Abomin8ion bought.

i d rather buy used, good still but used

as mentioned u lose a ton of money just riding it once. and its not really justifiable in my opinion. but it all comes down to money.

just keep looking you will find ur gxsr 750 used in good condition for the right price

My new bike is delivered on Friday, it's been such a long wait that I've had time to reconsider options and what I need and want.

I'm currently leaning towards any future purchases being used because of the lower prices. Two of the bikes I had been considering were new models and as such, used wasn't an option, which lead to a higher budget cap which lead to a wider selection of bikes being considered. A dangerous spiral to be caught up in.

I decided on a new bike because of the deal I was able to strike and hopefully work will calm down in a couple of weeks time and I'll be able to get a reveal video and photo shoot completed. I do like the bike BUT...

I'm now thinking perhaps I bought the wrong one. I'll cover that topic in the reveal vlog in a couple of weeks when I may have been proven wrong but, I'll be happy with my new bike but I think a different option would have been better for me.
