I’ve had good results with my labs. Just make sure you keep it out of a direct wind zone and get a faux fur windscreen.

Update guys - the microphone I had was not comparable with the action camera I was using (Git2). Be cautious when purchasing these types of devices. The microphone worked fine, however the interface between the 3.5 mm jack and the microUSB adapter (5 pins) was incompatible. Even using a 4-3 pin 3.5mm adapter didn't work. I was hoping the HW was close enough to the GoPro to work - apparently not. I'm returning the entire device - hopefully you'll have better luck than me.
