Hello everyone.

Well after careful thought and a little help from a club who couldn't care less about its members, i have decided to start my own motorcycle club.
The club that i was on didn't help me at all and they all just look down on you and leave you on your own in the middle of a unknown place.
So i am starting up my own club ,the main role in the club will be to look after and help fellow club members and motorcyclists, in every way that can be thought about ,every member will be there for each other, if a member has a problem then other members will help, the website will start to be set up very soon ,however i will not post a link on here untill i have spoken with the admin team and they are happy for me to post a link, this club will be for new and old bikers we will all be there to help each other when we need it as we are all just a family of motorcyclists.
Anyone on here will be welcome to join the club if they so wish (if admin approve a link) and still be apart of motovlog.

Thank you all for taking your time to read this.

All the best.

Simon

Nice one mate. You really need to be pm' ing me about this. Why? Cuz I tried this last year and created a logo, colour scheme, set up a youtube channel, them it fell apart when it came to the forum part. It still has potential but I lack the web knowledge to create a site etc.

Sorry, I think it's only an issue if you decide to wear patches, but I've heard that by calling yourself a Motorcycle Club, some clubs see this as fair game for trouble. Thus some clubs avoid the MC title and call themselves Riding Clubs, or RCs.

Just found this link that explains the difference.

ADMIN - IF THIS NEXT BIT IS IN BREACH OF MOTOVLOG RULES, I APPOLOGISE IN ADVANCE. IT ISN'T MEANT TO DIVERT ANYONE AWAY FROM THIS SITE BUT AS WE HAVE A LOT OF BIKERS ON HERE, IT COULD WORK IN CONJUNCTION WITH IT. PLEASE FEEL FREE TO DELETE AS APPROPRIATE.

On another note, I started a group the other year but had difficulty getting enough people together on it as a forum to make it work after the fall out (read on). Forums (as most people know) are hard to get going. You need members. Members need to post to generate threads/topics etc to generate more interest and more members, and so on - the growth escalates.

It did have a forum initially but i drafted in a guy who hosted it on his own servers and did some pretty good stuff to it. Then came a time when due to the nature of forums and people posting slander and hatred (as people often do on forums) he decided that as he was hosting the site on his servers and had put a lot of time into setting up the site up with how I wanted it to look, he wanted us to put insurances in place to stop people from suing the site. I said there was no need and that members doing this would quite simply be banned. TBH I think it was a it of an over reaction I could understand how he was just protecting his own business as he did have a lot to do with search engine optimisation. He wouldn't have it and we parted company. Unfortunately in doing so, he took the site from his servers and it collapsed. I had no idea how to put it back together and members lost interest. I never found anyone who could help it and so it lies dormant as a domain name.

I had originally started it up as a bit of a Blog in WordPress for me personally to capture my bike musings, how most of us now do with VLOGGING, but TBH didn't really know what I was doing. I did have a lot to thank him for, for how the site ended up looking. The downside was that as a joint forum Admin, every new member that joined, he was reading the riot act to, which, as bikers are, don't like been told what we can and can't do and usually do the complete opposite anyway. This had a knock on effect of people comparing us to other sites where we you are told what to do, and people steered clear.

Personally I still think it has plenty of potential as a standalone bike forum but as my knowledge of all things web and net go, it remains an idea unless someone with the know-how can do something with it.

It does have it's own YT site, http://www.youtube.com/bikething Twitter @bike_thing etc so could all be linked, and as I used to be a graphic designer, I created an identity for the site and had some hoodies and teeshirts made. A lot of what I intended to do with the site from a charity point of raising money from events/rides etc was to go to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and I even made some decent contacts on the back of this.

The site was called Bikething - idea being that a Bikething isn't something you can explain to non-biking folk. You feel it. It's that feeling you get at the start of every bike season when the weather changes and we all get our babies out to play. It's how we will talk to other bikers we don't know. How we help fellow bikers out with problems. It quite simple is Bikething!

If anyone IS interested in helping set it back up, get in touch. As I said, forums are forums but I wanted to create something that was more than just a forum. I still have a vision of how it could work and possibly generate money (although that isn't the idea but more a long term option for potential). I've got designs worked out for the actual site and a forum would just be another part of that. You could run it like an online magazine if needs be.

I think we should put this to a vote of interest. Would any of you be willing to stump up a couple of £££ if needs be if it needs hosting payment? We're all gonna benefit from it but I don't have the finances to lay out for it on my own.

I have 6 designers working on mine and its costing me a huge amount of money, i wouldnt have a clue where to start so i just pay someone to do it for me.

All the best.

A huge amount of money?

Web design shouldn't set you back any more than a couple of hundred quid if it's just a mag like site?

Its not just web design i have gone for, its hosting, all the mod cons, the whole thing plus i have to pay the guys to design the website for me and then a separate guy to build the website.

All the best.

Simon

P.S. it will be a full on website like motovlog is.

Motovlog.com is just an administered PHBB forum site. Most of the ones I'm a member of are created/run for free or utilise a bit of advertising to help run it.

Like i said i have no idea what im doing so i pay someone else to do it for me they are setting up Independent hosting and the website for me.

All the best.

It'll be interesting to see what you get for your money. The only reason I asked if anyone on here could do the web side of mine is that I don't have any web skills. What I do have tho is 20 years commercial experience of design and print. If you want things like web address stickers producing or Tee Shirts printing, logos creating, I can do all that. You'll be paying a stack as they will be charging you for 'Design' uniqueness. I can do this myself thus saving me loads.

I am currently talking to someone at the minute with a view to mine and I'm sure if they are willing to help out, if I put my design ideas down on paper and they tell me what I need to supply them with, we can come up with something pretty cool. Healthy competition never hurt.

The only potential issue I can see with yours is if the guys stringing it together work it as a commercial template and not from what the biking community would want. I reckon the way to go is simple. Nothing too fancy. Things like Flash elements (graphics flying around all over the screen etc) will only complicate things but will add creativity. I think this can be achieved by simply having something that isn't purely based around a forum. Nothing wrong with forums. They do the job. Look at this one. Its one of the best and simplest sites I've ever been part of. I want to create something with an edge though.

I'm not giving too much away. You'll have to wait and see on that one

I'm sure whatever you end up with will be money well spent though bud, and as long as you are happy with it, everyone is happy.

I'll be more than happy to join it and you will be more than welcome on mine. You can't beat having fingers in many pies.
