Greetings,

Has anyone updated their Drift HD Ghost to the latest firmware 2.4.4.0 (10/07/2014). It seems to be a very silent release with no news about it on their Facebook page or blog.

Highlights:
» High Bitrate option for Video Mode
» Car DVR: Manual Mode (for non external power users)
» Addition of Scene Modes (Normal, Vivid, Low Light*)

*No auto frame reduction

Since this is my first post on MotoVlog I can't post the link. :)

Here are Some more details shared by Drift.
Firmware Version: 2.4.4.0
Release Date: 07/12/2014
DRIFT HD GHOST

» High Bitrate option for Video Mode

Users can now select to keep the normal compression used by the H.264 codec, or
if they prefer, allow a higher flow of data for preserving more of the original recording.
This will increase the bit rate used in all recording modes. The maxmimum bitrate is
set to 20 Mbps. This will result in a higher file size.

» Car DVR: Manual Mode

The new firmware introduces a ‘MANUAL’ mode to Car DVR. Setting the Car DVR to ‘M’ (manual) allows the user to use this feature while
manually starting the first loop by pressing ACTION. This is ideal for users such as cyclists, where external power is not frequently used.

» Scene Modes

Normal: Use this as your ‘go to’ setting. This is the default setting and will give you the most neutral, true colour palette possible
for the broadest range of environments, and is the best mode to choose for bright outdoor environments.
Vivid: Use this mode when you are intentionally looking to make your colours a touch more saturated.
Low Light: This setting should only be used in low light settings such as filming at night or indoors with less ambient lighting. The
Low Light setting on the Drift HD Ghost only reduces noise in the image and does not offer the automatic frame
reduction found on the Drift Ghost-S.

Thx AdityaS, I was not aware about this update.

I will try the scene modes, especially the low light one, because the image quality of the drift HD ghost at night is sh*tty :/

Haha, I only came to know about it because I've been trying to figure out a freezing problem. I doubt low light will improve as that's more a function of the sensor. :(

Freezes if I hit record instantly after powering on, or if I hit stop/start in quick succession. I think it's due to a fake Sandisk memory card though, ordered a Samsung Pro card to rule it out.

Wait for the SD memory number to show then hit record. I found that works everytime
